Viet Nam News TOKYO — Vietjet on Wednesday announced three new international routes linking Việt Nam with Japan, in a move accelerating the growth of tourism and trade between the two countries and across the region. The event was witnessed by Việt Nam’s Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc as part of his official visit to Japan and several high-ranking Japanese and Vietnamese dignitaries. In his speech, PM Nguyễn Xuân Phúc said the launch of Vietjet’s routes from Việt Nam to the Kansai region of Japan marked a step in rebuilding Kansai’s economy and tourism after it was devastated by a storm in early September, as well as contribute to tourism, trade and integration between the two countries and the region. Nation ‘doomed’ as skilled young Vietnamese turn to Uber, Grab in droves

App-based ride hailing companies Uber and Grab have given rise to ‘grave degradation’ in the mindset of young Vietnamese, with too many turning to this type of ‘unskilled’ work. This paints a bleak picture for the country’s future. Every day as I drive around the bustling metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City, I see large groups of Grab and Uber drivers clustered together, most of them in their early twenties. For the most part, these are young men who’ve had the privilege of a tertiary education, and represent what local media have also recognized as a worrying surge in this type of employment amongst young people. Overcoming the family difficulties, Nguyen Van Luat, a student of class 12A1 at Le Hong Phong High School (Tay Hoa District) came first in the Construction College number 3 entrance examination with the total score of 29,5 (10 for Maths, 10 for Physics, and 9.5 for Chemistry),in the two other universities, Luat also got rather high scores. Domestic Press Highlights (28-03-2008) World Bank-funded work begins on highway The Transport Ministry has begun upgrading a section of National Highway 38 B linking the northern provinces of Hai Duong and Hung Yen to boost economic growth and industrialisation in the two provinces. It is part of a road renovation programme funded by the World Bank. The Hai Duong-Hung Yen section is 50km long and will cost VND440 billion (US$27.5 million). The project, scheduled to be completed in the next two years, will shorten the distance from National Highway 1A to the port city of Hai Phong by dozens of kilometres. Tien Phong Bank increases deposit interest rates
HA NOI — Tien Phong Commercial Joint Stock Bank (TienPhong Bank) officially adjusted the savings rate up of both dong and US dollars for individual depositors; raising the bank's highest dong saving rate to 10.49 per cent per year for all terms on Wednesday. At the same time, it offered more weekly terms for savings in US dollar for individuals with minimum deposits of US$50,000. The US dollar savings rate for terms of 1, 2 and 3 weeks will be 1.5 per cent, 1.6 per cent and 1.8 per cent, respectively. The common US dollar savings rate will enjoy the highest deposit rate of 4.2 per cent per annum. In 2009, TienPhongBank announced VND164.7 billion ($91.5 million) of profits after deductions for the bank's risk standby fund, exceeding 10.5 per cent of the year's target.
