Stock market: shares up as more money pumped in property

The benchmark VN-Index on the HCM Stock Exchange (HOSE) gained 0.49 percent to settle at 1,121.21 points. It had dropped 0.51 percent to close at 1,115.79 points on March 1. Brokers manage an electronic bonds auction at the Hanoi Stock Exchange in Hanoi Meanwhile, the HNX Index on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) inched up 0.91 points to end at 128.25 points. The index was down 0.74 percent to end at 127.10 points on March 1. More than 265.1 million shares were traded on the two local exchanges, worth 7.6 trillion VND (335.7 million USD). Market trading conditions were positive, with 251 gaining stocks against 205 decliners, while 270 other stocks remained unchanged. However, only 12 of the 30 largest shares by market capitalization advanced in the VN30 Index. The VN30 Index was up 0.10 percent to 1.106,92 points, with more than 78 million shares exchanged, worth 3.6 trillion VND. Banks race to fund green energy projects

Renewable energy in Viet Nam is expected to grow at 23 per cent annually during 2020-30.- VNA/VNS PhotoDDai Hai Power Investment and Development SJC to fund its VND1 trillion Srepok Solar 1, which has a designed output of 50MW. Vietcombank has recently approved a VND785 billion (US$33.55 million) loan for the BP Solar 1 project, which has total investment capital of VND1.2 trillion with designed output of 46MW in the south central coast province of Ninh Thuan. The bank last month also signed a contract with the Dai Hai Power Investment and Development SJC to fund its VND1 trillion Srepok Solar 1, which has a designed output of 50MW. Another bank – HDBank – has so far also planned to set aside up to VND7 trillion for the construction of green energy projects from now to 2020. Green color dominates stock market as April starts

The benchmark VN-Index picked up 22.15 points to close at 1,196.61 points on April 2, the highest since the stock market of Vietnam was launched, when more than 245.7 million shares were sold for about VND 8.04 trillion (USD 353 million) on the HCM Stock Exchange (HOSE). The bourse saw gaining stocks outnumbered the declining ones by 155 to 140 while 42 others ended flat. Plucking up courage to enter foreign exchanges

A slew of well-known Vietnamese companies often look to making a stock exchange outside the country, but resolving barriers in order to do so remain complex (Photo: VNA) Last week, FLC Group chairman Trinh Van Quyet, announced that his group is ramping up efforts to be listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX) at the bourse’s 20th anniversary event, a move which he said would “bolster its business, hone its image, and replenish overseas capital.” “The SGX is a top international destination which provides value to businesses that want to extend their overseas ambition,” added Quyet. “FLC aims to become listed on the SGX next year or in 2021.” FLC Group has been preparing to give the go-ahead to proceed with the international share sale for more than two years.
