Hanoi (VNA) - People around Vietnam interviewed by the Vietnam News Agency are sharing a belief that the 13th National Party Congress, being held from January 25 to February 2, will be a success and set out orientations for Vietnam to develop sustainably. Hoang Ngoc, a resident in Tan Lap village in northern Tuyen Quang province’s Tan Trao district, hoped the congress will select capable leaders who are dedicated to the country and the people, to unify and guide them in building a democratic and prosperous country, and a fair and civilised society in line with the goals set by the Party. Vietnamese students win gold medals at IMSO 2021
The International Maths and Science Olympiad was first held in 2003 for children under 13 years old. Since then, it has become a prestigious contest and held alternatively in different countries. This year IMSO was held online from January 21 to 24 and hosted by Indonesia. The total number of participant countries went down to 15. Vietnam also attended the contest with 24 students who are all in sixth grade. 12 students who joined the maths contests are students from Hanoi-Amsterdam School, Giang Vo Secondary School, Trung Vuong Secondary School, Ngo Si Lien Secondary School, Nguyen Truong To Secondary School, Ngoi Sao School, Archimedes School, Newton School and Cau Giay Secondary School. French court to hold hearing on AO lawsuit
Hanoi (VNA) – A French court will open a hearing on a lawsuit filed by Vietnamese-French Tran Thi To Nga against 14 multinational companies for producing and selling chemical toxins that was sprayed by the US army in the war in Vietnam, causing serious consequences for the community, her children and herself. Nga, born in 1942, filed the lawsuit in May 2014. Among the companies named in her suit, there were such names as Monsanto (now under the German group Bayer) and Dow Chemical. With the support of several non-governmental organizations, Nga accused the companies of causing lasting harm to the health of her, her children and countless others, as well as destroying the environment. "I am fighting for not only myself, but also my children and millions of victims”, Nga stated.
