The Chinese team will take on the Thais in the first game, followed by the Vietnam vs. Singapore match. The second match day on November 7 will see Thailand against the Young Lions, then Vietnam play China. Two days later, Singapore will meet China before Vietnam take on Thailand. China and Singapore are conducting a joint anti-terrorism training exercise in Guilin in the southwest Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region that will run until June 26, said Chinese military sources. The drill, "Cooperation-2009", involves 61 soldiers and officers of the People's Liberation Army and 61 of their Singapore counterparts, Xinhua news agency said, citing spokesman , Huang Xueping of the Ministry of National Defense. The Under-23 teams of China, Singapore and Thailand started their training in Hanoi Wednesday to compete in the Vietnam Football Federation Cup, held to help Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam improve fitness for December's Southeast Asian Games. US exempts China, Singapore from Iran sanctions
WASHINGTON - The United States on Thursday exempted China and Singapore from sanctions over purchases of oil from Iran, hours before restrictions would have entered into force against their banks. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a statement that China and Singapore had "significantly reduced" their crude oil purchases from Iran, joining most major economies in receiving exemptions from the new US law. Under a law aimed at pressing Iran over its nuclear program, the United States after Thursday will impose sanctions on financial institutions of countries that deal with Iran's central bank, which handles the country's main export. Clinton credited the threat of sanctions with severely cutting Iran's crude oil exports and estimated that it cost the country some $8 billion in lost revenue each quarter.
