Malaysia, China commit to promoting regional cooperation
Hanoi (VNA) - Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Malaysia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Zambry Abd Kadir committed to promoting regional cooperation during their talks in Beijing on March 28. Since the reopening of cross-border tourism on March 15, the border gate has seen the entrance and exit of about 1,000 people daily. Most of them are tourists and those who travel to seek jobs or visit relatives. In the first two months of this year, it has completed immigration procedures for over 16,000 people. All immigration procedures there were done smoothly, ensuring compliance with regulations on medical quarantine conditions. The draft aims to plug some loopholes that have been exploited by traders to disguise their commercial activities as cross-border individual transactions (CITs). It is also part of the government's efforts to promote the movement of goods via official channels, putting an end to trade bottlenecks at border gates. The draft stipulates that traders who engage in commercial activities at auxiliary border gates or border crossing points must do so at the gates or points approved by provincial authorities. The traders and their companies are also required to carry a valid passport or equivalent papers while doing the trade.
