Quang Trung Software City in HCM City said it had been ranked third out of eight software parks in Asia evaluated by KPMG. Lam Nguyen Hai Long, QTSC’s CEO, said despite being the leading software park in Viet Nam, its management had been unsure about its ranking in Southeast Asia and Asia. So it commissioned KPMG to assess its comparative status against technology parks in other countries such as Dailian Software Park (China), Technopark (India), Cyberjaya (Malaysia), Cebu IT Park (the Philippines), and others. The study was based on indicators such as occupancy rate, quality of supporting services and onsite infrastructure. KPMG compiled another list based on a tenant-centred analysis, and QTSC was fourth in it. Vietnam’s biggest software park urged to go public for stronger performance
The company that manages a Ho Chi Minh City-based software development center should undergo a privatization process as soon as possible for the facility to live up to its potential, the city’s Party Committee chief said Saturday. Once going public, the Quang Trung Software City (QTSC), the operator of the Quang Trung Software Park, will also be able to afford better incomes for its executives and engineers, party committee secretary Dinh La Thang said as he toured the facility in District 12. During the visit, Thang asked the QTSC director Lam Nguyen Hai Long of his salary. After knowing that Long gets VND24 million (US$1,071) a month, Thang shook his head to show disappointment. City to have one more software park Ha Van By Ha Van - The Saigon Times Daily HCMC – The project to build Quang Trung 2 Software City will be presented to the HCMC government this June, said deputy director of Quang Trung Software City (QTSC) Nguyen Hai Long. The project aims to attract investments of local and foreign enterprises in outsourcing, researching and developing information technology (IT) products and solutions. “We have finished making the detailed planning and will present it to the city government in June,” Long said. According to Long, three locations where the project can be developed are being considered. QTSC is also working with Lam Dong and Nam Dinh provinces on small-sized software parks. Besides, QTSC is coordinating with Nam Dinh Province to build a data center to serve the demand of enterprises and agencies in the province. ĐÀ NẴNG — Đà Nẵng’s software park has been recognised as a centralised information technology centre – the third of its kind after two in Hà Nội and HCM City – following Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc’s decision on December 7. At the announcement ceremony on Wednesday, director of the city’s information and technology, Trần Quang Thanh, said the 10,000sq.m park comprising of two buildings in the city’s downtown is home to 75 IT businesses including 22 foreign companies. It has attracted nearly VNĐ1.8 trillion (US$80 million) in investment and employs 2,400 people.
