(MPI Portal) - On August 15th, a ceremony was held by the Ministry of Planning and Investment to award the campaign Medal for the cause of Planning and Investment to Mr. Francis A. Donovan, Director of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Vietnam in recognition his contributions to socio - economic development of Vietnam. At the ceremony, Vice Minister of Planning and Investment Dang Huy Dong gave a profound thank to the contributions of Mr. Francis A.Donovan to boosting diplomatic, cultural, economic and trade ties between two countries. Mr. Francis A. Donovan worked in Vietnam from November 2008 and ended his term in late August 2012. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Francis A. The United States economy still stagnant
According to numbers published on September 27th by the United States Ministry of Trade, during the second quarter, the United States economy just increased by 1.3% lower than experts' expectations. This is also the quarterly lowest gross domestic product growth (GPD) since the 1st quarter of 2011. Previously, it was forecasted by the Ministry that within the second quarter in 2012, GDP of the United States would increase by 1.7%, which is lower than the 2% of the 1st quarter. Experts said the stagnant economy of the U.S was due to low goods consumption and decreasing fixed investment. Eight dead as floods plague central United States
Rivers from Nebraska east to Ohio climbed out of their banks on Wednesday, swollen from thunderstorms that soaked the central United States for days and killed at least eight people. The situation appeared to be worsening in Ohio where 21 counties battled high water, with officials declaring a state of emergency in nine of them in the north-central part of the state. The Embassy of the United States at Vietnam to visit Quang Nam.
On 12/10, Chairman of PPC Le Phuoc Thanh had a meeting with the Embassy of the United States in Vietnam, Mr. David Shear. Thereby promoting the friendly relations between Vietnam and the United States in general, between Quang Nam and other organizations of the United States in particular. Quang Nam is a province attractive many investor of U.S.A. Special, in the last time, the province received the many support of U.S.A Government about economic-socio. United States Provides More Demining Equipment to Vietnam
Landmine clearingin the central province of Quang Tri. The United States Government on Dec.27 turned over nearly one million dollars worth of equipment to locate and clear landmines as well as unexploded ordnance (UXO) to the Ministry of Defense’s Center for Bomb and Mine Disposal Technology (BOMICEN). This marked the eighth time in as many years that the U.S. Department of State has provided such specialized equipment to Vietnam, in order to reinforce its capacity to deal with the explosive hazards that remain after thirty years of conflict. The United States has long been committed to assisting in the process of addressing remaining UXO/landmine problems not only in Vietnam, but globally.
