A ceremony was held in Maputo (Mozambique) on May 29 by Buddhist monks, nuns, and followers from the Vietnamese community in the country to mark Buddha’s 2563rd birthday. The Vietnam Buddhist Shangha (VBS) coordinated with the Embassy of Vietnam in Mozambique to celebrate the Lord Buddha’s 2563rd birth anniversary in Maputo on May 29. The event drew dignitaries from over 20 religious organisations in Mozambique, along with more than 200 Vietnamese Buddhist followers, business representatives, and people living and working in Maputo. Venerable Thich Dong Hue delivered the message of VBS Supreme Patriarch Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue at the UN Day of Vesak 2019 recently held in Vietnam, affirming the core values of peace and wisdom in the Buddha’s teachings. HCMC Party Chief Nhan receives former US President Barack Obama
As scheduled, Former U.S President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama visit the Southeast Asian country from December 8 to 11 in the framework of visits to some Asian nations. They visited Vietnam to talk about the Girls Opportunity Alliance under the Obama Foundation which help to fight against illiteracy amongst juvenile girls and women from the grass root by creating chances for them to grasp and pursuit their dreams through education. Vietnam crave long-awaited gold medal in SEA Games men’s football
Vietnam will compete for their first-ever Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medal in the men’s football final against Indonesia in the Philippines on Tuesday evening. The much-anticipated game will take place at Rizal Memorial Stadium in the Filipino capital of Manila, and will be aired in Vietnam on VTV6 Channel at 7:00 pm. In Ho Chi Minh City, ten gigantic screens have been set up on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1 for the public to enjoy the game free of charge. Other public venues, such as the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Culture House at 4A Pham Ngoc Thach Street in District 1, will also screen the game. For the safety of these mass screenings, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has announced that all heavy trucks will be banned from several streets in Districts 1, 3 and 5 between 10:00 pm on Tuesday and 1:00 am on Wednesday. “Love will keep us alive” exhibit

The exhibit shows the experience and personality of both artists. I like many paintings here, so it’s hard to pick a favorite. But I especially like the painting of the hometown of Anh that her husband painted. I think it has a special story,” said Pam DeVolder from the US. “The exhibit shows the two artists’ love for Vietnam, their homeland, even though they’re currently living far away. The painting that I like the most is the one named “Chuc Son afternoon”, which features a peaceful village in Vietnam.
