Local infection count rises to 1,584 after six further cases found in Hai Duong

All of the fresh patients in Hai Duong are F1 contacts who previously came into close contact with confirmed cases and they had already been placed into quarantine at concentrated isolation facilities. The detection of the latest patients lifts the national infection tally to 2,507, including 1,584 domestically-transmitted cases, along with 923 imported cases. With regard to the COVID-19 vaccination programme, the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases along, the Hospital for Tropical Diseases of Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Duong province, the nation's current biggest epicenter are set to start inoculation on March 8. Moving forward, vaccination plans will be based on the principle of ensuring maximum safety for citizens. "It can be affirmed that 100% of vaccinated people who contract the disease will be milder and not lead to death. This is a very important factor in deploying a large-scale vaccination plan. People need to get a better understanding of the benefits of vaccines as well as unwanted reactions in order to have confidence in vaccination as the best way to protect themselves from the virus," Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said. According to the official, priority will be given to those on the front line in the fight against COVID-19, including health workers, army personnel, police forces, along with customs and immigration officers. In addition, those working in sectors which offer essential services such as aviation, transport, tourism, and education will also be prioritised. This is along with people suffering from chronic illnesses, those above 65 years old, people living in pandemic-hit areas, the poor, and beneficiaries of social welfare. The province reported six new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases this evening, March 6 - PHOTO: MINISTRY OF HEALTH HCMC - The Ministry of Health has confirmed six new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in the northern province of Hai Duong, sending Vietnam’s caseload to 2,507 as of this evening, March 6. Since late January, the province has reported 707 Covid-19 infections. Three of the six new cases were reported in Kim Thanh District and three others in Kinh Mon District. All of the new cases had come into contact with Covid-19 patients and had been quarantined before testing positive for Covid-19, posing no risk of community transmission. They are being treated at the Field Hospital No. 3 - Hai Duong Province General Hospital’s second branch. Vietnam has reported 891 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in 13 cities and provinces since January 28. To date, 1,920 Covid-19 patients in the country have fully recovered. Vietnam reports seven new COVID-19 cases on March 6 morning

A medical worker disinfect the environment in Hai Duong province (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded seven new COVID-19 infections over the past 12 hours to 6am on March 6, including six in Hai Duong province – the country’s current biggest pandemic outbreak - and one imported case in Thai Nguyen province. The new patients brought the total number of infections in Vietnam to 2,501, including 1,578 domestically-transmitted cases, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. The Treatment Subcommittee reported that a total of 1,920 patients had been given the all-clear from the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 so far. Among the active patients undergoing treatment, 65 tested negative to the virus once, 57 twice and 137 thrice. As many as 49,565 people who had close contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are being quarantined across the country, including 1,290 in hospitals, 14,199 in other establishments and 34,076 at home. In a bid to live safely with the pandemic, people should strictly follow the Ministry of Health’s 5K message: khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering) and khai bao y te (health declaration)./.
