VFF President visits HCM City Archdiocese and ProtestantsThe President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Huynh Dam, visited the Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese and the Vietnam General Confederation of Evangelical Churches (Southern Region) on the morning of December 24 to celebrate Christmas. Mr Dam met with and conveyed holiday wishes from the Party and State to the Archbishop of HCM City, Cardinal Pham Minh Man, The VFF leader affirmed the importance of the Cardinal's role and reiterated that the Catholic community is an inseparable part of the nation’s unity bloc. He expressed his hope that Cardinal Man will join other Catholic dignitaries and believers and lend his prestige to patriotic emulation movements. Hanoi Times - In the past few days, a number of parishioners from Hanoi and other provinces have made public disorder at the 42 Nha Chung St. land lot which is currently the head office of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Information, the Sports and Gymnastics Center, and the Hoan Kiem District House of Cultural Activities. On January 25, the HanoiChurch organized a Mass, celebrating Cardinal Pham Dinh Tung's 90th birthday, 45-year bishop, and 60-year Catholic priest.
