Kim Dooyoon, CEO of JB Securities Vietnam What is your assessment of the financial landscape of the country, and how have you seized opportunities? In the last three years living and working in Vietnam, I have found that for Vietnamese business, the main source of financing is mostly from banks, and the capital markets are in the early stage compared to peer countries in Asia. As Vietnam's economy grows fast compared to other countries, I expect that its capital markets will also grow to meet the funding needs from the industries, based on my experience and study in Korea and the US. With this expectation, I have decided to focus on the debt capital market first since I joined JB Securities Vietnam (JBSV) three years ago. In particular, in the last two years, JBSV has advised corporate bond issuances and made commitments to invest more than 1 trillion VND. Thanks to our strong financial analytical skills and advanced risk management scheme on the bonds, JBSV has been … [Read more...] about JB Securities strives to contribute to development of Vietnam’s capital markets

Dollar’s gain against dong to be short-term: analysts
The dollar rose to a new peak against the dong this year, hitting VND24,550 this week, and has risen around 3% since the beginning of the year at Vietcombank. "Many are concerned about the gain of the dollar, but I do not think it will rise as strongly as last year," said Nguyen The Minh, director of analysis at Yuanta Securities. The dollar rose at some point by 8.5% against the dong last year to 24,900 before declining in the last month of the year. The surge came after the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) widened the dong-dollar trading band from 3% to 5% a day and allowed the dong to depreciate as global central banks tightened their monetary policies. But the gain of the dollar this year, according to Minh, is different, as it has mostly been caused by the short-term rise of inflation in the U.S. The U.S. dollar index, which measures the strength of the greenback against major currencies, remained strong at over 105 points. Analysts from stock brokerage firm SSI … [Read more...] about Dollar’s gain against dong to be short-term: analysts

Six things you should not do when eating breakfast
Skipping breakfast Not eating breakfast may interrupt the circadian rhythm, interfere with the metabolism process, and decrease the ability to transform fats and carbohydrates. An empty stomach is also more acidic and vulnerable compared to one filled with food. Those who skip breakfast may also experience low blood sugar levels and its consequences, including lack of concentration, tiredness, and a tendency to eat more during lunch and breakfast, which in turn leads to obesity and bloating. Eating too fast Another habit that should be avoided is chewing and swallowing food too fast while eating, which makes food not ground into small pieces and consequently the stomach has to work more intensively to digest the food. Eating too fast lowers the nutrition absorption efficiency and creates a higher probability of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Having breakfast too early or too late According to Khanh, it is recommended to have breakfast at a fixed time every day. This … [Read more...] about Six things you should not do when eating breakfast
