Vietnam earned a score of 78.49 to rank 62 out of 165 countries and territories included in 2021 World’s Best Countries For Quality of Life recently released, moving up its ranking of 101st out of 171 countries in the previous edition. The ranking was determined based on 10 key categories: affordability, economic stability, family-friendly, a good job market, income equality, political neutrality & stability, safety, cultural influence, well-developed public education system and well-developed public health system. Each attribute was graded on a 100-point scale. Compared to Southeast Asia peers, Vietnam lags behind Singapore (19th place), Thailand (38th), the Philippines (39th), Malaysia (41st) and Indonesia (58th), though ranking above Myanmar (101st), Cambodia (111th) and Timor-Leste (149th). Nguyen Tat Thanh Street is always crowded Duong Thi Thanh Thuy, living on Huynh Tan Phat Street in District 7 and a regular user of this street to go to work in District 1, shared that it normally takes her 20 minutes to get to work, but at rush hours the time could be a double or triple. VIWA asserts that the freight involved in the complaints was transported via natural waterways connecting to seaports, which are under the management of MoT, but not via local facilities connecting to seaports, which are under the management of local authorities. Vietnam court sentences woman to death for transporting 77kg of drugs
The People’s Court in Dong Thap Province in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta sentenced a woman to death and a man to life in prison for transporting 77 kilograms of narcotics in early 2021. Le Nguyen Thuy Vy, 29, hailing from the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang, received the death penalty, while Huynh Quoc Dat, 30, a Ho Chi Minh City resident, was handed a life sentence during their trial on Monday. They were both convicted of the illegal transportation of narcotics. In mid-2020, Vy arrived in Ho Chi Minh City and earned a living as a delivery worker, according to the indictment. Vy then met Le Thanh Quan, who had just finished serving his jail term for drug trafficking. The two became close, with Vy considering Quan as her older brother. Quan later asked Vy to be his drug transporter, and the latter agreed. Vy successfully transported drugs under Quan’s direction on several occasions.
