VietNamNet Bridge - While Bun cha Huong Lien and Habeco have been taking full advantage of US President Obama’s visit to the shop and the use of Bia Ha Noi to boost sales, Vinamilk has kept quiet, though its bottled water ICY was used by US delegates. In Hanoi, ‘Bun cha Huong Lien’ is now called ‘Bun cha Obama’, as it was the bun cha shop where the US President had dinner on the first day of his visit to Vietnam. The shop has become so crowded that many Hanoians complain on their Facebook that they cannot book a table on ordinary day. Meanwhile, a local newspaper reported that customers, instead of ordering separate dishes, always order ‘a serving for Obama’, i.e they want to taste what Obama ate that evening. Buu Dien, an ICT news website, reported that nearly all the domain names with the key word ‘bunchaobama’ (bun cha Obama) have been registered Bun cha Huong Lien and Habeco have been taking full advantage of US President … [Read more...] about How can Vietnamese businesses exploit President Obama’s visit?

Not all big players can succeed in fast-food market
VietNamNet Bridge - Many well-known fast food brands are jumping into the Vietnamese market through franchise contracts. McDonald’s Vietnam on January 31 opened its eighth shop in Vietnam, called McDonald’s Buu Dien. According to Le Ha My Tram from McDonald’s Vietnam, the shop was inaugurated just after one month of construction to be able to serve customers on Tet. Located near the HCM City Post Office, McDonald’s Buu Dien, covering an area of 650 square meters, can offer 250 seats in the central area of the city. Just after two years presence in Vietnam, the world-famous fast food brand has opened eight shops in Vietnam, which, according to analysts, serves as a ‘warning message’ to other fast-food brands, domestic and foreign. As Vietnam is an emerging market, it is still large enough for many investors, including newcomers. The rapid expansion of McDonald's shows its active outlook about the Vietnamese market. VN division one home sides suffer
VN division one home sides suffer (22-02-2005) NHA TRANG — Da My Nghe-HCM City continued their unbeaten run in the First Division with a come-from-behind win away over Khanh Hoa at Nha Trang Stadium last weekend. The Division's third round of games saw several surprises, with three powerhouses drawing on their home fields and two others losing. In Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa earned an early lead when Ghana's Felix scored from a short-range shot. The hosts looked poised to increase their lead with an attacking play, but the HCM City side's defence was up to the challenge. At the other end of the field, Da My Nghe's players converted on two out of three chances, with Phan Anh Tuan and Adeyemi Michel scoring goals in the 22nd and 74th minutes. The win put Da My Nghe on top of the table, replacing promotion candidates Huda Hue, who frittered away their home advantage in a 1-1 draw against Thanh Hoa. Strata Dong Nai suffered a narrow 1-0 loss on their home ground to the HCM City-based … [Read more...] about VN division one home sides suffer
