Bus route 2

HCM City (VNA) - A number of bidding packages under the Green Transport Development Project, to develop a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor in HCM City, are scheduled to be kick started in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to the HCM City Management Board for Traffic Works Construction and Investment. Invested by the management board, the BRT project has total investment of over 121.2 million USD, lent from the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA), and nearly 423 billion VND (over 18.38 million USD) in reciprocal capital. A high-quality bus route, called BRT No 1, will be built along the Vo Van Kiet - Mai Chi Tho Highway, with technical characteristics and quality of service similar to light BRT systems around the world, fully satisfying all of the requirements of smart traffic. To commemorate the occasion, the new carrier will offer 50,000 tickets at VND 0 (excluding taxes and fees) from January 19 to 25 or until tickets are sold out. General Director of Vietravel Airlines Vu Duc Bien said that its first commercial flights are scheduled to take off on January 25, with most routes seeing two flights a day. According to the firm, the expansion would cost VND5 trillion (USD217.391), including site clearance. A representative from Phap Van-Cau Gie JSC said that the expressway was initially projected to reach 92,000 passenger car units (PCU) every day in 2022. However, the figure was at 84,240 PCU daily on average in 2019, and 144,265 PCU during the holidays. This year, it would be 101,088 PCU per day, 9.6% higher than the designed maximum capacity. He added that the expressway expansion is necessary to help deal with the route’s traffic congestion, particularly on holidays. Besides, the route operation has brought good revenues.
