Under the latest draft plan on COVID-19 prevention and control in the new situation, which is waiting for input from the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control, ministries, provinces, cities and experts, the MoH said that the pandemic situation has basically been controlled nationwide. However, the pandemic situation is still complicated in many countries and is even increasing again in some. Experts advise people to get booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine
Illustrative photo At the seminar, experts said that although the global Covid-19 pandemic has been basically controlled so far, the epidemic situation is still very complicated and unpredictable. SARS-CoV-2 is still constantly changing with new sub-variants that are more contagious and difficult to identify; therefore, experts predicted an increase in severe cases as well as mortality. Omicron is a popular variant in the world today, but it is not the final variant yet. According to the experts’ assessment, it is still possible for a new variant of SARS-CoV-2 to appear, causing an increase in cases of severe symptoms or deaths, especially in vulnerable groups. In order to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, vaccines are still considered as one of the most effective and important strategic weapons to protect the health and lives of people and communities. In reality, over the past time, vaccines have proven to be effective in disease prevention in the country in particular and in … [Read more...] about Experts advise people to get booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine
A quarter of phishing attempts in Vietnam last April are financial-related
During this month, payment systems were the most common phishing cases detected by Kaspersky, representing 11.77 percent of all phishing and over 44 percent of financial phishing. The increase in online transactions in Vietnam during the pandemic has facilitated the proliferation of phishing with pages impersonating popular payment systems such as Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, and more. The percentages are from anonymised data based on the triggering of the deterministic component in the Kaspersky’s Anti-Phishing system on user computers. The component detects all pages with phishing content that the user has tried to open by following a link in an e-mail message or on the web, as long as links to these pages are present in the Kaspersky database. As more and more users shop online, phishing attempts targeting e-shops also increase, accounting for 30 percent of financial phishing cases. Bank-related phishing, with the example below showing pages impersonating Vietcombank, … [Read more...] about A quarter of phishing attempts in Vietnam last April are financial-related
VN-Index declines for five straight days despite support from banking stocks
Before the trading session, investors received positive information from the global stock market, especially the US stock market. The stock market of the world-leading economy rallied in the first trading session of a new week after dropping at the end of last week in the context that investors' concerns about the Fed's decision to raise interest rates were higher than the forecast and risks of economic depression. Specifically, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 641.47 points, or 2.15 percent, to 30,530.25 points. The S&P 500 also rose by 2.45 percent to 3,764.79 points. Both indexes recorded the strongest increase in June. The Nasdaq Composite alone surged 2.51 percent to 11,069.30 points. The prosperity of the US stock market is the motivation for investors to jump in and catch the bottom right from the first minutes of the morning trading session. Although the VN-Index suffered the selling pressure from large-cap stocks and sometimes retreated sharply to 1,160 points, … [Read more...] about VN-Index declines for five straight days despite support from banking stocks

Afghan quake kills 950, toll seen likely to rise
Photographs on Afghan media showed houses reduced to rubble, with bodies swathed in blankets lying on the ground. Helicopters were deployed in the rescue effort to reach the injured and fly in medical supplies and food, said an interior ministry official, Salahuddin Ayubi. "The death toll is likely to rise as some of the villages are in remote areas in the mountains and it will take some time to collect details." Wednesday's quake was the deadliest since 2002. It struck about 44 km (27 miles) from the southeastern city of Khost, near the border with Pakistan, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGC) said. Most of the confirmed deaths were in the eastern province of Paktika, where 255 people were killed and more than 200 injured, Ayubi added. In the province of Khost, 25 were dead and 90 had been taken to hospital. Haibatullah Akhundzada, the supreme leader of the ruling Taliban, offered his condolences in a statement.
