Coast Guard Region 3 supports local fishermen
Accordingly, the command and relevant organizations held meaningful activities to help islanders and fishermen in the district. On May 21, a delegation of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command disseminated information about Vietnamese sea and islands, and Laws on Vietnam Coast Guard, and Drug Prevention and Control and other legal documents related to Vietnam’s sea and islands. Women of Son La’s border guard hand over house to needy woman
The recipient was Lu Thi Sien in the border village of Phieng Khang of Phieng Pan commune. Sien and her husband have three children. Their families depend on farming produce, while Sien is always in poor health condition. Although their house was downgraded, they could not afford to repair or re-build it. Learning Sien’s difficulties, Phieng Pan Border Post and the Women’s Union Organization of the Son La provincial Border Guard Command called on the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province to fund the house construction. Sien’s house was built on an area of 50sq.m at total cost of VND 50 million, of which the Women’s Union Organization of the Son La provincial Border Guard Command donated VND 20 million. Coast guards raise local fishermen’s awareness of legal fishing
Delegates and owners of trawlers learnt about regulations and legal procedures for fishing areas according to laws of Vietnam and ASEAN member states. The work was expected to raise public awareness of fishing regulations, stressing the aim of ending violations in foreign waters. Reportedly, local owners of trawlers signed a document to commit to not fishing in foreign waters as well as to join hands with functional forces to conduct legal fishing in Vietnam’s waters and strictly safeguard the national sovereignty over sea and islands. The delegation visits Vietnam's sovereignty stele on the Truong Sa archipelago. Military units launch tree-planting in tribute to Uncle Ho
At the ceremony held by Minh Dam Regiment under the Ba Ria - Vung Tau provincial Military Command, its chief Senior Colonel Nguyen Tam Hung emphasized the importance of planting trees to beautify barracks, create shade for troops during their break-time, contributing to improving troops’ living standard. Scholarships presented to poor students in border area of Tuy Phong district
