This is the second official friendly visit of the Lao leader during his tenure (2016-2021). The visit is also expected to strengthen solidarity and political trust between the two Parties and countries. Schwab to advise local firms to boost trade links with U.S. By Mong Binh - The Saigon Times Daily HCMC - Former U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab is on her way back to Vietnam to give local businesses advice on how to step up exports to the U.S. and expand trade links with partners in America and other major markets. In addition to meetings with Government officials, Nguyen said Schwab would spend much of her time chairing international conferences in Hanoi on December 1 and in HCMC two days later. At the seminar, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, Director of the Centre for WTO and Economic Integration under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) gave an overview of the trade commitments between Vietnam and China, with a focus on the upgrade of the ASEAN-China FTA (ACFTA) and the contents of the AHKFTA. Regarding Vietnam-China trade ties, Trang said Vietnam-China Border Trade Agreement can be considered the latest trade deal of ASEAN and Vietnam with foreign partners.
