The number of students from kindergarten to high school in HCM City will increase by 22,000 in the upcoming 2022-23 academic year, according to the city’s Department of Education and Training. The increase is mostly at pre-schools, secondary schools, and high schools in Thủ Đức City and the districts of Bình Tân, Bình Chánh, Hóc Môn and 12 which are in the process of rapid urbanisation and population growth. Tuyen Quang busy preparing for lantern festival
After a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tuyen Citadel Festival will again be held in the northern mountainous province of Tuyen Quang this year. One of the highlights of the festival is a procession of giant mid-autumn lanterns. For more than a month now, Hoang Ngoc Tung, a local resident in Tan Quang ward, has set aside his daily tasks to join with other residents in making a mid-autumn lantern. The lantern is based on the legend of the first ancestors of the Vietnamese people - Lac Long Quan and Au Co. Local residents hope to educate children about love of their homeland and remembering their place of origin. Tuyen Quang province boasts about 40 festivals every year, but the Tuyen Citadel Festival is unique, with hundreds of giant mid-autumn lanterns in the procession. Diving competition leaves Vietnamese boys with serious lung damage after five-minute submersion
Two 13-year-old Vietnamese boys are hospitalized at the Children’s Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City after being submerged underwater for five minutes in a diving challenge with their friends last weekend. The children were still on ventilators for oxygen support, had intensive measures applied to protect their brains, needed drug transfusions, and received supportive antibiotic injections as of Monday, according to Dr. Vu Hiep Phat, head of the emergency department at the Children’s Hospital 2. The two children will continue to be actively monitored by doctors in the coming days, Dr. Phat said. The two boys went swimming with a group of friends at a location near their home, according to their family members’ account.
