Green agriculture is a closed production process through applying scientific and technical advances, biotechnology and physicochemical technology. Green agriculture is a sustainable direction that Hanoi has been making effort to develop, according to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Manh Phuong. Green agriculture is an inevitable orientation of modern agriculture, Phuong said, adding that Hanoi has recently switched more than 40,227 hectares of rice land to new agricultural production models. Besides, developing green agriculture also helps to raise people's awareness on environment protection, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pollution, the deputy director stressed. Rice cultivation by modern method brings high efficiency in Hanoi outskirt district of Ung Hoa. (Photo: VNA) Budapest (VNA) – Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue and his Hungarian counterpart László Kövér co-chaired a legislative conference in Budapest on June 27, with a focus on the legal framework on greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction, renewable energy, and the green economy. In his remarks, Kövér said Hungary is always determined to protect the environment, which is clearly reflected in its development orientations and legal regulations. Its climate policy was adapted to the European Union (EU)’s requirements but didn’t neglect its own features and its people’s interests. Hungary was one of the first countries to issue legal mechanisms for realising the goals of reducing 40 percent of GHG emissions by 1990 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050. AEON determined to fortify green lifestyle
Nguyen Bang Lang, in charge of sustainable development at AEON Vietnam The convenience and low cost of plastic packaging are omnipresent in the retail and service industries. What is your opinion on the use of these products? As a Vietnamese person, I’ve witnessed these challenges every day. I have three points on the use of single-use plastics in Vietnam. The first relates to the cheap cost of the material. The cost of plastic including in a product or transaction is barely noticeable, so both seller and consumer should have no difficulty in making decisions to use or not use them. The next point is that the techniques as well as facilities in Vietnam are not yet ready to support businesses in changing to more sustainable alternatives. The final point is that the after-use process has not been developed yet. In detail, we have no standardised system to classify, recycle, or treat the material. So, we don't have anything to support resolving plastic usage. When it comes … [Read more...] about AEON determined to fortify green lifestyle
Rising demand for green-certified office spaces and hybrid working: Expert perspectives
Matthew Powell, director of Savills Hanoi How does Savills assess the trends and demand for office real estate going forward? Matthew Powell: It's really positive that the demand has been so strong post-pandemic. For the most part, many companies have survived well and on return to the office, everything has gone smoothly – especially in sectors such as technologies, IT, insurance, and manufacturing. Foreign direct investment has been a big demand driver for office space, so we've been very pleasantly surprised to see that. All the new office space we're working on has been expanding into nicer offices or been from new companies opening for the first time in Vietnam. Vietnamese corporates are expanding, so on the demand side, it's been very encouraging. For example, we're expanding our office this year and moving to a hybrid working style as well, so there has been a change in the way offices are used. How do you see the movement of office real estate and its … [Read more...] about Rising demand for green-certified office spaces and hybrid working: Expert perspectives

BAEMIN extends green journey in Vietnam
Jinwoo Song, CEO of BAEMIN Vietnam As online food delivery platforms grow, one of the most pressing concerns is the volume of plastic waste generated throughout its operations and how it is tackled. The effectiveness in which different countries are dealing with the plastic waste produced by online food delivery will be dependent on how well developed their recycling infrastructure is and the speed of online food delivery has grown. “While the recent discussion often revolves around the plastic waste only, I think it’s equally important to review other aspects of environmental challenges posed by the food technology industry that is food waste and the increase of carbon footprint”, shared Jinwoo. The pandemic has prompted the use of single-use, disposable food packaging as consumers believe single-use packaging was safer and more hygienic. Even though they have become more environmentally conscious, it’s unlikely that they will consider keeping leftover food for future meals … [Read more...] about BAEMIN extends green journey in Vietnam
