A high school student in Gia Lai Province has set up 15 charity projects to help students from low-income families. Le Van Phuc Le Van Phuc, a 12th grader at Hung Vuong High School, is leading the Fly to Sky Charity Club. Phuc has had outstanding academic achievements. He has been an outstanding student for eleven academic years and won third prize at provincial and national geography competitions. He was also selected to attend the 8th Vietnam Youth Union National Congress. "I have loved geography since I was in 10th grade. I started reading more books about it which helped me a lot during the competitions," he said. "I have never stopped reading books and online. 54-yo deputy chief inspector takes shot at Vietnam’s national high school exam
It is not uncommon for public servants in Vietnam to lack a high school diploma due to previous educational standards in the country A 54-year-old deputy chief inspector in Gia Lai Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, was among the province’s oldest examinees sitting for this year’s national high school test. The provincial Department of Education and Training said on Tuesday that the locality had five test takers over 53 years old. Among them is Mai Xuan Khiem, 54, the current deputy chief inspector of the Gia Lai Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. As is common amongst older local government officials in Vietnam, Khiem never graduated from high school. Both the education department and Tran Thi Hoai Thanh, director of the provincial labor department, confirmed the information. Google launches 2nd phase of training for school students
Tram Nguyen, country director for Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia at Google Asia Pacific, introduces the Coding for the Future with Google project in HCM City on December 5. — VNS Photo Google launched the second phase of the "Coding for the Future with Google" project on December 5 saying it seeks to equip Vietnamese students with coding and internet safety knowledge and efficient internet usage and develop their creative thinking. The project, sponsored by Google and organized by the Dariu Foundation, will train 150,000 students at 300 schools in 15 provinces in 2019-20, 100 times the number it trained in the first phase last year. Police open criminal probe into first grader’s death in Hanoi school bus
Le Hoang Long, a first-grade student at the Gateway International School in Hanoi’s Cau Giay District, died on his second day to school on Tuesday. He was brought to the E Hospital, a public hospital in Cau Giay, with no pulse and blood pressure. He had been found unconscious in the school bus at 4:20 p.m. by the school staff. Long’s family, who only learned of his absence from school in the afternoon, agreed to have an autopsy done to identify the time and cause of death. The boy is his parents' only child. The results show Long had died before arriving at the hospital, Cau Giay District officials said at a press conference on Wednesday. They did not reveal the cause of death. The district police were informed of the situation on Tuesday afternoon and they summoned the school authorities, bus driver Doan Quy Phien, and Nguyen Bich Quy, an assistant traveling with the students on the bus for questioning.
