Photo: Infineon Technologies German semiconductor solutions provider Infineon Technologies announced on May 31 the establishment of a new chip development center in Vietnam's capital city of Hanoi. The center will focus on testing and customizing digital and analog signal circuits to support applications such as autonomous driving, battery monitoring, and balancing. The new office is expected to employ around 25 technical experts by the end of this year and will report to Infineon Technologies Vietnam, a subsidiary of Infineon Technologies Asia-Pacific. The center is expected to play a key role in Infineon's growth plans for its design and support services business. According to recent statistics, foreign direct investment (FDI) disbursement in Vietnam in 2022 reached a record of $22.4 billion, an increase of 13.5 per cent on-year. Coca-Cola celebrates one year anniversary of Mekong cleanup project
River Tales is a four-minute short documentary produced by Coca-Cola about The Ocean Cleanup’s Interceptor technology in the Mekong region, shining a light on how plastic pollution is impacting the Can Tho River and the opportunity to make a tangible difference through technology and community action. The Interceptor Original is the first scalable technology solution to prevent plastic from entering the world’s oceans from rivers, and after years of planning, Interceptor 003 was first launched into the Can Tho River in December 2021 and is operated by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho City. Coal still with part to play in energy mix
The clearance of 200-300 coal wagons per day via the La Lay border gate in the central province of Quang Tri is being deemed impractical, affecting Logistics PTS Vietnam’s future aim of importing five million metric tonnes of coal annually. “Transportation and warehouse infrastructure is scarce, and so we can only remove about 100 vehicles per day,” said PTS general director Nguyen Quang Huy. According to him, if Vietnam fails to strengthen infrastructure, improve National Highway 15D, and invest in warehouses, it will miss the chance to compete with Thailand in purchasing coal from Laos. In February, Laos’ energy ministry announced findings of coal field surveys in the provinces of Sekong and Saravane, indicating that reserves may be as high as 500 million MT.
