September 21, 2023 by vir.com.vn

The EV maker plans to deliver approximately 3,000 EVs to France, Germany, and the Netherlands in the fourth quarter of 2023, as the EU contemplates imposing import tariffs on Chinese EV competitors, according to a recent Reuters report. VinFast’s CEO Le Thi Thu Thuy revealed that the company anticipates introducing its VF8 models in France, Germany, and the Netherlands in Q4 this year. "Other models like the VF6, VF7, and VF9 are slated for a 2024 launch," she added. “Thuy did not indicate the number of VF8 sport utility vehicles (SUVs), but a person familiar with the matter said it would be around 3,000 vehicles, including some for Israel,” Reuters wrote. This move marks a significant growth target, with the company aiming to quadruple its European sales volume, a considerable jump from its earlier modest target of 700 EVs. The EU's stringent scrutiny of Chinese EV makers and the anticipated imposition of import tariffs could present a lucrative opening for VinFast. China, India lead Asia’s biggest hydropower crunch in decades

September 22, 2023 by e.vnexpress.net

The two countries, which account for about 3/4 of Asia's power generation and most of its emissions, are also to a lesser extent using renewables to make up for the hydropower shortfall and address rising electricity use. Major Asian economies have faced power shortages in recent years due to extreme weather conditions, including intense heat and lower rainfall over large swathes of northern China and Vietnam, as well as in India's east and the north. Higher use of polluting fuels such as coal to meet electricity demand spikes and supply shortages underscore the challenges of lowering emissions. Asia's hydropower output fell 17.9% during the seven months through July, data from energy think tank Ember showed, while fossil fuel-fired power rose 4.5%. "Despite a strong growth in solar and wind power generation in Asia, supply from fossil-fuel thermal power plants has also increased this year as a result of a large decline in hydropower generation," said Carlos Torres Diaz, Rystad … [Read more...] about China, India lead Asia’s biggest hydropower crunch in decades
