Outstanding FDI projects satisfying Binh Duong’s green economic development criteria include an over-1-billion-USD factory of Lego Group , which is scheduled to become operational in 2024. Centuries-old trees illegally cut down in Vietnam protection forest
Many centuries-old trees in a protection forest in Cam Village of Van Canh District, located in Binh Dinh Province, south-central Vietnam were chopped down unlawfully, Luong Dinh Tien, chairman of the district People’s Committee said on Monday. Situated in Cam Village in Canh Lien Commune sharing a borderline with Tan Xuan Commune in Tay Son District, the protection forest is under the management of the Van Canh protection forest management board. Deforested areas were mainly found near the Co, Chuoi, Da Trai and Dong Mit Mai streams. Stretching an area from Co Stream to Da Trai Stream, 10 trees with a diameter of 0.3-1 meter were sawn down, while five other centuries-old trees have been felled at Chuoi Stream, which is part of Co Stream. Many investors borrowed money to invest in property in previous years, hoping to make profits, but instead suffered losses as tightened credit drove up interest rates and hit liquidity. In 2021, Tran Van Nam from HCM City bought a land plot for VND5 billion (US$208,000) in the southern province of Dong Nai, hoping to resell it within a year for a profit of hundreds of millions of dong. In Vietnam, Buddhist monk arrested for possession of drugs
Police in Thai Binh Province, northern Vietnam said on Friday that they had arrested and initiated legal proceedings against a Buddhist monk for the illegal possession of narcotics. Police officers of Dong Hung District in Thai Binh caught Nguyen Thanh Duc, 41, red-handed illegally possessing 0.1476 grams of methamphetamine at the beginning of this month. Duc declared that he is a monk and the abbot of Co Son Pagoda in Tien Lang District, Hai Phong City, which borders Thai Binh. Dong Hung police officers reached out to the Religious Affairs Department of Hai Phong and the chapter of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the city to verify the declaration. The response from the Religious Affairs Department of Hai Phong confirmed that Duc was officially recognized as a Buddhist by the chapter of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the city in 2017 and was given the Buddhist name Thich Ban Tinh. Vietnam’s Phu Quoc dismantles 6 illegal bungalows in marine protection area
The People’s Committee of Phu Quoc City, a popular tourist destination in Kien Giang Province, southern Vietnam, on Monday dismantled six bungalows which were built illegally above the water within a marine protection area. Huynh Van Dinh, head of the Natural Resources and Environment Bureau of Phu Quoc, said the People’s Committee of the city's Ham Ninh Commune on October 11 last year made a report on the illegal construction of the facilities. Covering more than 1,200 square meters, the bungalows belong to N.L.V., residing in Ham Ninh Commune. On November 7, 2022, the Phu Quoc People’s Committee issued a decision to ask V. to pull down the bungalows but he failed to comply with the requirement. “Local authorities dismantled six bungalows of V. today and will continue the dismantlement on many other illegally-built constructions, including 79 villas in Duong Bao Hamlet, Duong To District,” Dinh said. Central Vietnam city to build 80-km coastal road
The construction of the road, which would connect Ke Ga and Mui Ne resort town, was announced on Monday. The road would begin at Bac Binh District and end at Ham Thuan Nam District. The coastline of Phan Thiet of Binh Thuan Province is currently segmented by estuaries, neighborhoods and tourism projects. The future coastal road would see more roads and bridges built for connectivity as well. Binh Thuan authorities would not approve for new construction projects on the coast in Phan Thiet to keep its beaches more accessible to locals and tourists. The two sides of the Ca Ty River, which runs through Phan Thiet, will be renovated and new roads built. Vietnam’s Khanh Hoa to receive dozens of Chinese tour groups through end of month
Though China added Vietnam to its list of approved countries for group tours on March 15, flights carrying groups of Chinese tourists to Khanh Hoa Province in the south-central region will not resume until March 26, according to Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company. Accordingly, low-cost air carrier Vietjet Air will run about 34 round-trip flights between China and Khanh Hoa from March 26 to March 31. While China Southern Airlines has plans to reopen an air route connecting China with Cam Ranh International Airport in Khanh Hoa on March 26 with one daily flight, the frequency will float between 25 and 30 daily international flights from mid-April 2023 onward. Chinese freight train first comes to Vietnam’s southern province
Trang Bom District in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam welcomed a cargo train from China’s Shangdong Province for the first time on Thursday morning. Addressing a ceremony to welcome the train, Wei Huaxiang, Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, said the first arrival of the Chinese freight train will help promote rail transport cooperation and better trade between Vietnam and China.
