(Photo: VNA) Quang Tri (VNA) - A grand ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s visit to the liberated area in the south of Vietnam (September 1973) took place in Dong Ha city in the south central province of Quang Tri on September 26. The event was jointly organised by Quang Tri authority, the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam. Prominent guests at the ceremony included President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez, Politburo member and standing member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Truong Thi Mai, and Politburo member and Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man. The 39-year-old from Thanh Xuan District bought the unit of more than 70 square meters in early 2021 at a price of VND42 million per square meter in a modern 25-story building on Ho Me Tri Street, hoping her family would have a better quality of life after living for many years in an old apartment. Vietnamese plastic producer Rang Dong Holding JSC recently lost a lawsuit against Japan’s Sojitz Pla-Net Corporation regarding their shareholding agreement and is obligated to return nearly VND157 billion (US$6.4 million) to the Japanese corporation and pay for related fees and charges. In 2017, Sojitz Pla-Net Corporation and Rang Dong Holding inked a share transfer contract in which the former acquired five million shares at Rang Dong Long An Plastic JSC, a member of Rang Dong Holding, at over VND174 billion ($7.2 million). The Japanese firm made full payments for the batch. After the share transfer, Sojitz accused Rang Dong Holding of failing to fulfill its obligations as stated in the contract. As a result, the Japanese corporation terminated the contract and requested Rang Dong to return 90 percent of the paid share cost, equivalent to nearly VND157 billion.
