There are four flights a week in either direction on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, the budget carrier said in a release on Monday. The first flight from Hanoi to the Indian capital left on December 7. It is a thrice-weekly service on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For decades airlines in the two countries disregarded the other market, but last month Indian carrier IndiGo launched direct flights from the eastern Indian city of Kolkata to HCMC and Hanoi, the first ever direct flights between the two countries. Randir Brar of Indian travel agency Destinos India told VnExpress that the number of Indian visitors to Vietnam could see a surge following the launch of the direct flights. "The direct air routes will help cut traveling time between the two countries from 15 to six hours, making it easier for Indians to travel to Vietnam." Vietjet had announced plans for a HCMC-New Delhi service in July last year, but they failed to materialize. India is one of the fastest … [Read more...] about Vietjet Air begins flying to India

India, with the second largest population in the world only after China, is considered one of the most promising tourism markets. Every year, around 25 million Indian tourists travel abroad and the figure has been rising in recent years, according to India’s tourism ministry. However, the number of Indian tourist arrivals to Vietnam remains modest compared to other Asian countries like China and South Korea. Kenneth Atkinson, vice president of Tourism Advisory Board (TAB), told the Vietnam Travel and Tourism Summit held in Hanoi Monday the country has fared poorly compared to its neighbors in providing visa exemptions to attract more visitors. "Many countries have implemented the visa waiver policy due to its huge benefits. If Vietnam does waive visas for Europe tourists who travel longer and spend more, tourism growth could reach 20 percent," said Atkinson, also founder and senior board adviser of consulting firm Grant Thorton Vietnam. The number of foreigners visiting Vietnam in the first 11 months of this year is estimated at 16.3 million, an all-time high which was up 15.3 percent year-on-year, official data shows. Atkinson expressed concern that Vietnam's visa exemption policy for visitors from countries such as Russia, South Korea, Japan, Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden will officially expire on December 31, with the government yet to respond to the … [Read more...] about Visa exemptions passport to tourism bonanza: expert
