An ongoing exhibition in Hanoi is highlighting precious family memories captured in outstanding entries of a six-month photography competition. The exhibition, entitled 'Mai am gia dinh Viet' (Vietnamese homes), was opened at the Vietnamese Women's Museum in Hoan Kiem District on Friday and will run until Sunday. 'Vietnamese homes' showcases 70 best photos chosen from a pool of nearly 1,000 entries submitted by 238 participants to a photography competition organized by Nguoi Ha Noi (Hanoian) newspaper and Nguoi Lam Bao (Journalist) online magazine. The six-month contest, running from June, was held in observation of the Vietnamese Family Day (June 28). Of the 70 images on display, two were awarded second prizes, three won the third prizes, and 11 received consolidation prizes. There was no first-prize winner. Musical film Dance With Me is a highlight at the Japanese Film Festival in Hanoi from December 6 to 22. The films including comedy, drama, horror, musical, action and animation have been screened from December 6 to 22. Comedy My Dad is A Heel Wrestler will be screened at the festival opening ceremony. It is about story of a wrestler who was famous and popular but was forced to retire after a major knee injury. Musical film Dance With Me will be a highlight of the festival. Police conclude investigation into death of boy locked in school bus in Hanoi
Police in Cau Giay District in Hanoi on Friday announced the conclusion of an investigation into the death of a first-grader who was locked inside a school bus for nine hours in early August, with prosecution proposed for three suspects. The police suggested the district People’s Procuracy launch prosecution against Nguyen Bich Quy, 55, and Doan Quy Phien, 53, for committing “involuntary manslaughter” and Nguyen Thi Thuy, 29, for “neglecting responsibility, causing serious consequences." The result of the police investigation shows that Quy and Phien, who were the supervisor and driver, respectively, of a school bus contracted by the Gateway School in Cau Giay District to transport its students, started picking up 13 Gateway students on a 16-seater van at 6:00 am on August 6. The 2019 International Food Festival will be held on December 8 at the Van Phuc Diplomatic Compound. The International Food Festival is an annual cultural and charity fundraising event hosted by the Service Department for Diplomatic Corps, featuring around 120 pavilions representing embassies, foreign relations departments, non-governmental organisations and foreign cultural centres in Vietnam.
