The Vietnamese athlete is the defending champion in the women's U64kg categories, where she competed against four rivals, including powerful Quinilitan Ando Elreen of the Philippines who threatened her crown at the last Games three years ago. Time flew fast, but Thanh practised hard. She showed her excellence in the snatch event with the heaviest lift of 98kg in the first attempt. He pulled a snatch of 132kg and a clean jerk of 154kg, registering a total of 286kg. Eko Yuli Irawan of Indonesia gained a total 290kg to win gold and Aznit Bin Bidin Muhamad of Malaysia secured the silver medal with 287kg.
