Imports-exports contribute $2.37 billion to State budget in Jan-Feb State budget collection from import-export activities reached 54.76 trillion VND (2.37 billion USD) in the first two months, or 17.38 percent of the estimate and a year-on-year rise of 7.53 percent, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. In February alone, the collection was 23.66 trillion VND. As Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays fell in the month, the customs department worked together with relevant agencies to combat smuggling and trade frauds while increasing inspections. The customs force detected 967 cases in total from January 16 to February 15, seizing goods of 258.67 billion VND and contributing 8.6 billion VND to the State budget. State budget collection was estimated at 220.5 trillion VND in total in the first two months of 2021, equivalent to 16.4 percent of the year’s estimate./. Risky to invest in forex trading plaforms: Deputy Governor Forex trading via investment platforms had not been licensed in Viet Nam, posing significant risks to investors, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Viet Nam Dao Minh Tu warned. Tu said at the Government’s meeting on Tuesday in Ha Noi that the operation of forex trading platforms was currently illegal, adding that the trading of foreign currencies and derivatives must be provided by credit institutions and commercial banks licensed by the State Bank of Viet Nam. Until now, no forex trading platforms had been licensed for trading, he stressed, warning about risks when investing via these platforms. Recently, some organisations like Lion Group called for investments in forex through Fx Trading Markets with attractive interest rates of up to 300 per cent per year and commissions. Lion Group attracted around 40,000 investors nationwide. The definitive list of Vietnam’s top 100 dishes, food gifts

Photo: Phuong Nam / Tuoi Tre Complied by the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) and Vietnam Top Center (VietTop), the list includes dishes and food gifts from each of Vietnam’s 63 provinces and municipalities. In order to qualify for the list, dishes must be a reflection Vietnamese culture, made from natural ingredients, healthy, and widely available. Specialties selected must meet key criteria as reflecting Vietnamese characteristics, being The project to compile the list began in 2012.  During the past decade, Vietkings evaluated over 500 dishes and specialties from across the nation before settling on a finalized ranking. The noodles dishes which made the list include ‘bun nuoc leo’ from Soc Trang, ‘banh canh Ben Co’ from Tra Vinh, ‘pho kho Gia Lai’ from Gia Lai, ‘bun cha ca Quy Nhon’ from Binh Dinh, ‘bun bo Hue’ from Hue, and ‘banh da cua’ from Hai Phong. In the ‘cakes’ category are ‘banh khot’ from Ba Ria - Vung Tau, ‘banh tam bi’ from Bac Lieu, and ‘banh gia Go Cong’ from Tien Giang. Salads on the list include sau dau dried snakehead fish salad from An Giang and sardin salad from Kien Giang. The list of gift specialties includes Thoai Son dried snakehead from An Giang, Ben Tre coconut candy, Lai Thieu mangosteen from Binh Duong, honey from U Minh forest in Ca Mau, shrimp salt from Tay Ninh, and Ly Son garlic from Quang Ngai. All foods listed in the two categories will be issued certificates and medals from VietTop and a ceremony honoring the dishes will be held on April 26. First foreign firm donates VND3 billion to Tuoi Tre’s coronavirus vaccination initiative

Diageo Vietnam, a British multinational beverage company, has donated VND3 billion (US$129,600) to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper’s crowdfunding campaign for COVID-19 vaccination. During a presentation ceremony at Tuoi Tre ’s headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday, Le The Chu, the newspaper's editor-in-chief, expressed his deep appreciation toward Diageo Vietnam’s community spirit. “We initiated the crowdfunding campaign to gather possible resources and build up a large COVID-19 vaccine stock in Vietnam, aimed at protecting the public’s health and securing equitable vaccination in the society," said Chu. “Diageo Vietnam has responded to our call, making it among the foreign-invested enterprises that have a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and charitable spirits.” Titled 'Making COVID-19 Vaccine Contributions with Tuoi Tre ,' the campaign’s goal is to help Vietnam acquire a sufficient number of COVID-19 vaccine doses for the entire population. Speaking at the ceremony, Jos Duursema, COO of Diageo Vietnam, expressed his gratitude for being able to stay in one of the safest countries in the world thanks to the Vietnamese government’s effective measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic. “It’s an honor to partner with Tuoi Tre and help Vietnam enter the next stage of the COVID-19 fight," Duursema emphasized.
