The third deputy health minister has been selected by the Vietnamese government, while the seat of the ministry’s head remains unoccupied following the retirememt of former Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien last month. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has signed a decision to appoint Do Xuan Tuyen as Deputy Minister of Health. Tuyen, 53, was deputy secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the People’s Council in the northern province of Hung Yen before assuming the new post. He graduated from Military Medical University and was previously director of the medicine center of Hung Yen, the capital city of the namesake province. Japanese researcher helps Vietnam tackle AO/dioxin-related health issues
The project aims to equip Vietnamese health workers with skills to address problems related to Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin. (Photo for illustration) Japan's national broadcasting organization NHK quoted Professor Kido Teruhiko from the Kanazawa University and officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency as saying the project will last for three years in the Vietnamese central province of Binh Dinh’s Phu Cat district. Kido unveiled the detection of a high level of AO/dioxin contained in milk of nursing mothers in the area, adding that the rate of local underweight children is also high. As such, he has planned to train the health workers to check the dioxin level in breast milk and provide healthcare consultations for local mothers. Enterprises not only want to develop market share in Vietnam but also to invest in the country so as to make use of trade advantages that Vietnam is enjoying. Attraction from export turnover According to the ministry, by November this year, there were 30 export products with export turnover of above US$1 billion, accounting for 91.6 percent of total exports, mainly focusing on key product lines, including electrics, electronics, garment and textile, footwear, plastics, computers and components. Specially, there were five products with export turnover of above $10 billion, accounting for 59.6 percent. Particularly, cellphones and components had the highest export value of $48.7 billion, accounting for 20.2 percent of total exports, an increase of 5.4 percent over the same period last year. The exhibit shows the experience and personality of both artists. I like many paintings here, so it’s hard to pick a favorite. But I especially like the painting of the hometown of Anh that her husband painted. I think it has a special story,” said Pam DeVolder from the US. “The exhibit shows the two artists’ love for Vietnam, their homeland, even though they’re currently living far away. The painting that I like the most is the one named “Chuc Son afternoon”, which features a peaceful village in Vietnam.
