She was one week old when her mother died as they were trafficked last December. The pangolin baby, named Kim, was rescued in Hanoi in December last year and has been staying with Save Vietnam’s Wildlife, a conservation group that operates a carnivore and pangolin reserve at Cuc Phuong National Park in Ninh Binh Province, 90 kilometers (50 miles) south of the capital. She has three meals a day, with milk and ants that the vets find in the jungle. Lam Kim Hai, the main caregiver, said milk time used to take 20 minutes, but now it takes an hour, not just because she needs to eat more. “She is very playful,” he said. “It feels kind of sad thinking about saying goodbye to her,” Hai said. VietNamNet Bridge - From 30 tigers in nature in 2011, Vietnam has only five tigers in the wild, facing risk of extinction, reported the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on April 12. Tigers in captivity at a zoo on Phu Quoc Island. Photo: VNE Notably, this goes against the common trend in the world in recent years, according to WWF. Five years ago, according to WWF, Vietnam had about 30 tigers in the wild. If this worsens, Vietnam will only have tigers in captivity at zoos and parks in the next few years. In the same situation is Laos, with only two wild tigers left, and Cambodia, where wild tigers are extinct. This is due to illegal hunting of tigers to make tiger bone glue. In Southeast Asia, Indonesia has the largest herd of wild tigers with 371 heads, followed by Malaysia and Thailand with 250 and 189 heads, respectively. According to figures from the WWF, there are a total of about 3,890 tigers worldwide, an increase of 690 compared to 2010. The largest number of tigers is in … [Read more...] about Vietnam has only five tigers in the wild

The woman has one son and two daughters but she lives alone in a two-story house, in a 200m2 campus, with a tenant. However the tenant is usually absent from home. Every day, Hoa's daughters, daughters in law and grandchildren bring meals to her. According to the woman's grandson - Nguyen Minh Son - in the afternoon of March 25, he visited his grandmother's home and noticed that all air-conditioners disappeared. Son called his family members to ask about the machines and but they all said that they did not know about it. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has been snapped in a series of new leaked photos, which appear to show Samsung's iPad mini rival being used in the wild. The pictures came to light on Italian site dday.it, and show a tablet with a rounded, silver-tipped design that calls to mind the Galaxy Note 2. The camera on the back looks to be slightly raised from the rest of the tablet's surface, while the picture above on the left shows what looks like a stored stylus in the bottom-right corner. The Note 8, or Note 8.0 as Samsung may choose to call it, is tipped to have a 1,280x800-pixel resolution screen and a quad-core processor. The camera is reckoned to be a 5-megapixel affair. Those specs aren't mind-blowing, but then to be a competitive mid-sized slate these days, the important thing is to be dirt cheap. I'll be looking for a Samsung tablet priced at £160 or less to combat the Nexus 7 and Apple's tiny tablet. The pictures, which show the Note 8 from both … [Read more...] about Samsung Galaxy Note 8 spied in the wild in new leaked shots
