Outlook tours central coast
This month's issue of Outlook explores what's on offer in the south-central coast, from busy beachside resorts of Nha Trang City and Mui Ne to undeveloped and pristine seaside hideaways. Outlook, which goes on sale in Ha Noi, HCM City and other major centres this morning, also finds there's more to the south-central coast than its picturesque beaches. We travel off the beaten track in Phu Yen Province, where intrepid travellers who don't mind basic accommodation and local food can find some pristine slices of heaven. We also report on the south-central coast's traditional culture and find that many village communities continue to preserve old customs through festivals such as those organised by Phu Cau Village's whale-worshipping fishermen. Elsewhere in this issue, we sample Binh Dinh Province's special fish sauce, and take part in a traditional ethnic Black Thai wedding. Readers can also catch up on what's hot in the country's culinary, sports and arts scenes - and check out listings … [Read more...] about Outlook tours central coast
The Central Coast of Vietnam
The central area divides into two – the narrow coastal strip, and the Truong Son (Annamite) mountain range backing on to the borders with Laos and Cambodia to the west. It’s by far the longest region (about 1,400km from Phat Diem in the north to Phan Thiet in the south) and the least populated. Vietnam’s Central Coast is the most awkward area in Indochina as far as weather is concerned – it’s complicated topography creates a range of micro-climates. Hue, for example, has a deserved reputation for miserable weather, but a short drive south crossing the Hai Van Pass to Danang usually sees the clouds clear and the mercury rise. Most of the coastal strip is one long beach backed by a ribbon of land carrying Highway 1 and the railway. Where the strip widens, towns have developed. The Central Coast of Vietnam is an obvious choice for anyone looking for a beach holiday. Almost the total length of the Central Coast is lined with deserted soft sand beaches. … [Read more...] about The Central Coast of Vietnam
Central Coast Vietnam eyes flights from Bangkok
(CPV) - Central Coast Vietnam representatives and members of Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will conduct a roadshow to Bangkok in hopes of reopening a connection between Da Nang and Thailand's capital in late September. The Da Nang-Bangkok route was served by Thailand's PB Air from 2007 until 2009, when the carrier ceased operations. Louk Lennaerts, Chairman of Central Coast Vietnam, said that Danang's new airport has the capacity to handle more traffic, and those runways will soon be opened. In July, Vietnam Airlines also launched service to Danang from both Seoul and Siem Reap. The move mirrored expansions made earlier in the year by Dragonair from Hong Kong and Shanghai Airlines from Shanghai. Other airlines currently offering international service to Vietnam's third largest city include China Eastern Airlines (from Beijing), China Southern Airlines (from Shenzhen) and SilkAir (from Singapore), which in March introduced a sixth weekly flight. Korean Air and … [Read more...] about Central Coast Vietnam eyes flights from Bangkok
