Golden tourism route links six destinations of Vietnam, China
The route, called “Two countries - Six destinations,” covers Kunming city and Honghe county of China’s Yunnan province, along with Lao Cai province, Hanoi, Hai Phong city, and Quang Ninh province of Vietnam. Introducing Honghe, Zhao Ruijun, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee of the county, said the launch of the route is part of the tourism and cultural cooperation between China and Vietnam, and that it will provide a good stepping stone for the two countries to bolster cross-border tourism ties on a larger scale. Vietnam welcomes over 2.69mn int’l visitors in Q1
More than 2.69 million international tourists arrived in Vietnam in the first quarter of this year, soaring 30-fold against the same period last year, according to data released on Wednesday by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. The country earned an estimated VND161 trillion (US$6.8 billion) in revenue gained from lodging and dining services. Some provinces and cities in particular witnessed an upsurge in revenue, such as Da Nang (73 percent), Quang Ninh (43 percent), Can Tho (42 percent), and Ho Chi Minh City (37 percent). The country took in around VND6.8 trillion ($288 million) from travel services, up two-fold compared to the year-ago figure, buoyed by lots of cultural and tourism activities taking place in the first months of the year, the Vietnam News Agency reported. Vietnam government vows to combat origin fraud
The resolution is a necessary move to ensure sustainable development of Vietnam’s exports and lawful rights of local compliant traders. Vietnam reaffirms vigilance on East Sea situation
"Vietnamese authorities always closely follow situations on the East Sea and resolutely perform management measures and legal conducts in accordance with international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and Vietnamese law," said deputy spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang, according to the ministry’s official website. Hang’s comment came after reporters last week requested an official reaction to the news of the Chinese ship Haiyang Dizhi 4 Hao operating within Vietnam’s EEZ. Canadian man injured in road accident seeks to leave Vietnam
The man, who was the victim in the accident that took place near Nha Trang Town of central Khanh Hoa Province, wants to return to Canada to treat his injuries. Gélinas Guy has submitted a petition to the Immigration Department and the police in Khanh Hoa asking that he is allowed to leave Vietnam, his representative said Tuesday. According to the petition, Guy was riding his motorbike carrying his wife and their 7-year-old daughter on Vo Nguyen Giap Street heading toward Nha Trang when they were hit by a car in early March.
