Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Prague Airport said that the airport is considering the launch of flights from Prague to Vietnam, by partnering with either Vietnam Airlines or Bamboo Airways . There could also be another round of talks with Qatar Airlines in February for a route to Doha, he added. The airport is negotiating the renewal of the route to Newark with United Airlines. Discussions are also taking place with American Airlines about restoring the route to Philadelphia. Vietnam Airlines adds 108 flights for Tet
Most of the flights are from HCMC and Hanoi to Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Da Nang, and Hue, the airline said. In all there will 9,200 flights with 1.9 million seats between January 1 and February 5. Vietnam Airlines had earlier announced three additions in August and December for Tet in late January. Other carriers like Vietjet, Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines have also added flights. Data from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam showed that more than 90% of seats on flights from HCMC to central and northern destinations between January 14-21 had been booked as of January 12. Australia’s Victoria state pins hope on Vietjet’s launch of flights

Pallas said the presence of a carrier from Southeast Asia is a victory for Victoria's economy and brings job opportunities to the locality, reflecting the state’s tourism and export strengths. Vietjet will run three direct weekly flights from HCM City to Melbourne from April and will develop it into a daily service from December 2024. Its flights are expected to bring more than 136,000 passengers to Melbourne each year and add US$97 million annually to the state's economy. Bamboo Airways posted the best OTP, at 96.4%, followed by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines 95.9% and Vietjet Air 95%. The rate of Pacific Airlines was 93.6%, Vietravel Airlines 93%, and Vasco 86.9%. During the period under review, from December 19, 2022 to January 18, 2023, airlines in Vietnam conducted 29,416 flights, including 10,846 by Vietnam Airlines, 10,693 by Vietjet Air, 4,900 by Bamboo Airways, 1,912 by Pacific Airlines, 579 by Vasco, and 486 by Vietravel Airlines, according to the CAAV. During the seven-day lunar New Year holiday (January 20 to 26), airports across Vietnam handled more than 1.9 million passengers, up 58% from the 2022 holiday.
