After more than a year with a lot of efforts in scientific works, he was honored as the youngest among the top ten scientists receiving the Qua Cau Vang (Golden Globe) Awards in 2022. Overcoming hardships Luong Van Thien was born to a farmer family in a poor village of Yen Thanh commune, Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province. He remembered when he was a student, his parents had to work as hired laborers to pay for his education. Thien often asked for old books to self-study. He took time to study and made great efforts to acquire knowledge. After entering the Luong Van Tuy Gifted High School, he won numerous national-level mathematics competitions. Four Vietnamese awarded New Zealand ASEAN Scholar Awards
Four Vietnamese were awarded the New Zealand ASEAN Scholar Awards by New Zealand Prime Minister John Key on Monday. The four were among the 40 individuals from 10 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to be presented with the prestigious prizes in a ceremony to mark 40 years of diplomatic relations between New Zealand and the bloc. ASEAN is a ten-member organization which includes Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. The Vietnamese recipients of the awards are Mai Kieu Lien, CEO of dairy firm Vinamilk; Nguyen Xuan Vang, head of the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Education and Training; Tran Duc Lam, CEO of Tran Duc Homes Company; and diplomat Ton Nu Thi Ninh. Singapore’s production sector predicted to remain gloomy in Q1
In Singapore (Photo source: AFP) Singapore - Singapore's manufacturing outlook may continue gloomy in the first quarter of 2023, after its manufacturing output shrank for a third consecutive month in December last year, said economists. According to data released by the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore, the industrial production in last December fell 3.1 per cent compared to the same period of the previous year, making this the third consecutive month of decline. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, Singapore’s output increased by 0.3 per cent year-on-year. Output for the chemicals, precision engineering and general manufacturing clusters also declined on a year-on-year basis at 9.5 per cent, 4.1 per cent and 2.8 per cent respectively. The electronics sector was one of two clusters that saw output growth in December, after five consecutive months of decline. Google Doodle honours first female Vietnamese newspaper editor Suong Nguyet Anh

(Photo: Google) Hanoi (VNA) - The world’s most popular search engine Google paid tribute to Suong Nguyet Anh , the first female editor of the first women’s newspaper in Vietnam by posting a drawing of her on its homepage on February 1. On this day in 1918, the first publication of “Nu Gioi Chung” (Women's Bell) newspaper, where Nguyet Anh was editor in chief, was published. The drawing of Nguyet Anh on Google Doodle was illustrated by Hanoi-based guest artist Camelia Pham. In honour of one of her most popular poems based around apricot blossoms, the Doodle artwork incorporates apricot blossoms and an apricot colour palette. Nguyet Anh was born on March 8, 1864, in An Binh Dong village of southern Ben Tre province.
