Yeremia Rambitan, 22, runner-up in the men’s doubles contest, had finished the last day of the badminton tournament on May 22. The Indonesian badminton athletes were saying goodbye to Vietnamese volunteers in the northern province of Bac Giang when Yeremia allegedly laughed and used "inappropriate language" in a loud voice. The incident was livestreamed on social media, the Indosport reported. Yeremia explained that he had said things in jest, but he still faced a backlash from the Indonesian community. The Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) issued an official statement regarding the incident Thursday, with general secretary Muhammad Fadil issuing a warning to Yeremia. Archaeologists find traces of early humans in Bắc Kạn
HÀ NỘI Archaeologists have found various traces of early humans in a karst mountain cave in Quảng Khê Commune, in the northern province of Bắc Kạn. They have excavated Thẳm Un Cave and found that the cave’s foundation has been recently stirred up by cattle raised by locals. As a result, a cultural layer from an earlier time was revealed. A hole of 3sq.m was made to research the culture deposits. Archaeologists have found two cultural layers lying directly on top of one another, without any border layer. The new infections were reported in 47 out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide with Hà Nội continuing to register the highest number of daily infections with 309 cases. Mekong Delta faces shortage of river sand for major construction projects

In An Giang Province, a project to construct a bypass began in January, with a total investment of over VNĐ2 trillion (US$86 million). However, only 4 per cent of the targeted progress has been reached, due to a lack of river sand. Phan Duy Lai, deputy general director of the Mỹ Thuận Project Management Board, said currently, only 5,000cu.m of river sand is transported to the construction site daily. However, 8,000-10,000cu.m of river sand is needed per day to ensure the planned progress, he said. In Vĩnh Long Province, data from the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment shows that the province is predicted to lack about 5.5 million cu.m of river sand for construction this year.
