The Vietnam Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has asked the Vietnamese government to consider promptly giving funds to Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railways No. 1 Company Limited (HURC 1), which is at risk of halting operation. In his recent letter to Tran Van Son, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office, Shimizu Akira, Chief Representative of the JICA Vietnam Office, mentioned some issues related to the city’s Metro Line No. 1, including the urgent need of providing a budget to HURC 1 so that it can maintain operations. HURC 1, the operator of the city’s first metro project, is facing a big problem as its initial charter capital has been used up to pay for operating expenses in the past time and is now facing the risk of suspension due to lack of funds, the JICA said. HCMC strives for over 90 percent of population to get third Covid vaccine booster shot The city People's Committee has just sent an urgent document to departments, agencies, and socio-political organizations in Ho Chi Minh City and the people's committee of Thu Duc City and districts on promoting the Covid-19 vaccine rollout. Accordingly, the municipal People's Committee requested to continue implementing a communication campaign to mobilize people to inject the Covid-19 vaccine according to the Government document No. 2017/UBND-VX dated June 17, 2022, until the end of June 30. (Photo: kinhtedothi.vn) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - Developing energy-efficient buildings is an inevitable trend for Vietnam to achieve its environmental objectives. The energy used by high-rise buildings in Vietnam accounts for around 35-40 percent of the country’s total energy consumption . A survey by real estate service firm Cushman & Wakefield (CWK) showed that around 40 percent of gas emissions came from real estate. According to the Vietnam Green Building Council, there are about 200 green buildings across the country. At the United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2021 (COP26), Vietnam committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
