The US player has plummeted to 106 in the singles rankings after a season to forget - in November last year he reached a career-high of eight following his win at the Paris Masters. The 26-year-old has endured a torrid time in 2018, winning just nine singles matches all year and losing 21. Ly Hoang Nam falls to No. 553 in ATP ranking
Nam has not performed to his best recently. He came second in the Vietnam F1 Futures tennis tournament. Hoang Nam was unable to progress beyond the first round of the men’s singles in the Vietnam F2 and F3 Futures tennis tournaments. He collected a total of 57 points, higher than the 31 points of Andy Murray who surprisingly fell 690 steps to stand at No. 839 in the ATP ranking. Andy Murray has been injured and spent a period out of competition, which has directly affected his ATP ranking. Ly Hoang Nam drops seven places in ATP rankings
Vietnam’s top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has dropped seven places from world No 862 to No 869 in the latest ATP rankings. Nam fell due to his recent defeat to Indonesia’s Christopher Rungkat in the first round of the Men’s Futures F2 in the southern province of Binh Duong. In the men’s doubles rankings, thanks to making the Men’s Futures F2’s semi-final, Nam rose up 306 steps to world No 1332 and Nguyen Hoang Thien increased 219 steps to world No 1319. Ly Hoang Nam achieves highest ATP ranking for Vietnam
His successful run at Wimbledon has pushed Ly Hoang Nam 34 places up in the world rankings, according to a statement from the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) yesterday. The Vietnamese is now ranked 1,242nd – the best ranking in his career as well as a new high for tennis in the country. Nam and his Indian partner Sumit Nagal won the boys' doubles trophy on Sunday. They have been given a wild card to compete in the men's doubles event in London next year.
