All the new patients came from the United States, and entered Cam Ranh Airport on flight VN44 after transiting in the Republic of Korea on January 1. Their test results came back positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus at Nha Trang Pasteur Institute on January 6. They are currently being isolated to receive treatment at Phu Yen General Hospital. Earlier, 7 cases were confirmed positive for the virus on this same flight. Among the patients currently undergoing treatment nationwide, 14 have tested negative for the virus once, six have tested negative twice, and seven have recorded negative tests three time, while the number of deaths related to the disease remains at 35. As of January 7, the nation’s total number of infections stands at 1,509, with locally transmitted cases accounting for 693 of the overall figure, whilst imported cases make up 816, with each of these being immediately placed into isolation upon entering the country. Furthermore, up to 19,392 individuals who came into close contact with COVID-19 patients or who entered the nation from pandemic-hit regions are currently in quarantine nationwide. Moreover, during a meeting held on January 7 the Standing National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control outlined the increasingly complicated developments relating to the COVID-19 pandemic globally. At present the country is preparing to welcome the Lunar New Year festival, known locally as Tet, and organise the National Party Congress. In order to cope with this situation, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued a series of directives relating to pandemic prevention and control. Members of the Steering Committee and health experts said that despite the emergence of a new strain of COVID-19, the nation must move forward with effective pandemic countermeasures, particularly the 5K campaign launched by the Ministry of Health. This includes, “Khau trang”, “facemask, “Khu khuan”, “disinfection”, “Khoang cach” “distance”, “Khong tu tap”, …

A number of tickers on HoSE are set to be temporarily moved to the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) while the former works to upgrade its system, which could take until the end of the year. HoSE has also proposed that the minimum trading lot be increased from 100 to 1,000 to reduce the number of transactions. Photo courtesy of nld.com.vn HCM CITY  Though cinemas have been temporarily closed due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, many television crews have begun producing new content. Safety at filming studios has been prioritised to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and crews are more flexible about their schedules. Local TV drama crews have become more experienced working in such a difficult time. Film director Nguyễn Phương Điền said his crew has gone to Gò Dầu in Tây Ninh Province to film the next scenes of Lưới Trời after the Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday. Lưới Trời consists of 40 episodes, 20 of which were completed by last December. “Due to the pandemic, we have yet to film footage in crowded residential areas, but have given priority to scenes along the river wharf, village roads or outdoor areas without any people,” he said. “We have constantly worked with authorities and informed them of our filming schedules while following epidemic prevention regulations. In addition to masks and sanitisers for the whole crew, we have set up barriers outside filming locations to avoid curious crowds,” he added. The crew plans to stay in Tây Ninh for about 18 days before going to Dầu Giây in Đồng Nai Province and Tấn Châu in Đồng Tháp Province. Since most of the important scenes were filmed before Tết , it is easier for them to film now. All are serious about protecting their own safety for a smoother filming process, Điền said. Meanwhile, Vũ Thị Bích Liên, managing director of Mega GS Entertainment and Communication Complex, said that filmimg of director Hoàng Tuấn Cường’s movie, called Thương Con Cá Rô Đồng ”, resumed right after Tết . Thương Con Cá Rô Đồng is mostly being filmed outdoors without crowds, she said, adding that another movie would be produced in mid-March. Actress Văn Phượng is currently trying to finish the filming of Phía Cuối …
