The Vietnamese delegation to the 2022 Southeast Asian Para Games (ASEAN Para Games) in Indonesia arrived home on Sunday after claiming 183 medals, including 65 golds, 62 silvers, and 56 bronzes, ranking third on the medal table at the biennial multi-sport event, which concluded a day before. It is the highest number of medals Vietnam has achieved since it hosted the Games in 2003. The Vietnamese team initially set a target to win 35-40 gold medals at the regional Games. Vietnam broke 16 records this year, 14 of which were in swimming. Swimmer Vi Thi Hang set three new records, the highest among Vietnamese athletes, in the women’s 50-meter freestyle, 100-meter breaststroke, and 100-meter freestyle categories. Vietnamese female swimmer breaks record at 2022 ASEAN Para Games
Vietnamese swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu won a gold medal in the women’s 50-meter butterfly swim event at the 2022 Southeast Asian Para Games (ASEAN Para Games), taking place in Indonesia, with a record-breaking result on Thursday morning. Nhu’s achievement was 42.60 seconds, surpassing the Games’ record of 1:00.18 held by Malaysian swimmer Koh Lee Peng. Despite suffering leg paralysis since the age of three, Nhu developed a passion for swimming, with her idol being Michael Phelps of the U.S., who is the most successful and most decorated Olympian of all time. At the age of 37, Nhu has participated in the Paralympics, won gold medals at the 2015 World Championships, and earned many medals at continental tournaments. The ninth National Sports Games is set to open in Quang Ninh Province on December 9. Cambodia hopes to develop region’s traditional sports

The Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports held a workshop from August 8 to 11 to discuss the preservation of traditional sports to improve the awareness of the ASEAN identity, as part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) action plan on sport for 2021 - 2025, said the ministry’s Under Secretary of State Bou Chumserey. Da Nang to host golf tourism festival
