Ten tonnes of Vietnamese longan exported to Australia

Previously, dozens of tonnes of the tropical fruit were transported to the country. The office said it has coordinated with importers in the host country to organise an event to introduce Vietnamese longan to local consumers and overseas Vietnamese there. Vietnam’s exports to EU increase robustly
Currently, Vietnam's export products are available in most markets in the EU and have recorded good growth, focusing strongly on products such as textiles, footwear, coffee, seafood, vegetables and fruits, black pepper, and rice. Among these, coffee posted the strongest growth, with an increase of 75.2 percent, followed by seafood and black pepper, with 42.1 percent and 43.9 percent, respectively, over the same period last year. According to experts, the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), which took effect from August 2020, has created leverage to promote two-way trade between Vietnam and the EU, significantly helping Vietnamese goods improve competitiveness and expand market share in the EU market. Hoa Binh province’s longan exported to E.U.
Nguyen Hong Yen, head of the plant protection division under the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said local farmers have followed technical requirements set for fresh vegetables and fruits by the E.U. since 2019. The tropical fruit has been grown in Xuan Thuy commune (formerly Son Thuy) since 1989 and its area now reaches nearly 200 hectares. According to the department, Son Thuy longan was the first product of Hoa Binh to be granted with the production unit code (PUC) in 2019, which has enabled the fruit to enter international markets, including the E.U., through official channels. Resolution on IPs and EZs management drafted

It said IPs and EZs account for 50 per cent of the country’s total export value. However, the ministry pointed to a number of problems related to the IPs and EZs, including their unsustainable development in different aspects. Living conditions of local communities where the zones are located have not seen remarkable improvements. In the draft resolution, the MPI suggested the building of a Law on IPs and EZs in 2022, and the issuance of a Prime Minister’s decision on the co-ordination mechanism among ministries, sectors and localities in managing IPs and EZs.
