Vietnam emphasises global multilateral approaches to solving climate change issues

(Photo: VNA) New York (VNA) – A global problem, climate change requires a global approach based on multilateral cooperation and institutions, particularly the respect for international law and the UN Charter, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations (UN), has said. Vietnam’s engagement in UN resolution that urges the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to outline nations' legal obligations related to curbing climate change disasters and their impacts on vulnerable communities proves the country’s point of view, the ambassador said in a recent interview to the Vietnam News Agency right after the resolution was adopted on March 29. The resolution, co-sponsored by 132 countries, calls on the ICJ to lay out nations' obligations for protecting Earth's climate, and the legal consequences they face if they don't. Work starts on Vietnam’s largest-ever green hydrogen plant
The People's Committee of Tra Vinh Province in southern Vietnam on Thursday held a ceremony to kick off a project to build a green hydrogen plant with an estimated investment of VND8 trillion (US$341 million). The project, whose investor is TGS Tra Vinh Green Hydrogen Corporation, an arm of The Green Solutions Group, is the largest-ever green hydrogen plant in the Southeast Asian country. It was designed to cover some 21 hectares of land. Once completed, the project will produce green hydrogen through seawater electrolysis, in which renewable energy will be used to split seawater into hydrogen and oxygen. Hydrogen will be stored in the form of liquefied gas which is easily transported and used in many heavy industries. The green hydrogen factory will help deal with the redundant output of wind and solar power plants. Saigon Co.op discusses strategies with 600 suppliers
Saigon Co.op signed a number of agreements with suppliers at its supplier conference held in HCM City on March 30. — VNS Photo Saigon Co.op, the owner of Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.op Smile, Cheers, Finelife, HTV Co.op, and Cooponline retail chains, met with nearly 600 suppliers to discuss strategies to better satisfy customers’ needs and develop together at its supplier conference in HCM City on Thursday. Vu Anh Khoa, its chairman, said Saigon Co.op is now the largest consumer goods retailer in Viet Nam, and has the largest number of modern retail models besides more than 800 points of sale in 42 of the country’s 63 provinces and cities.
