Saigontourist is launching a new four-day, three-night tour to the origin of Dong Son culture in Thanh Hoa Province, which is the site of the country's largest bronze drum and relic restoration project. Dong Son is an ancient culture that developed in Vietnam's northern and central provinces during the late-prehistoric Bronze Age and early Iron Age. The culture is centered on the Hung King temple and the northern delta's three main rivers - Red River, Ma River and Lam River. Tourists departing from HCMC will fly to the city of Vinh in Nghe An Province where they will be transported to Sen Village, the birthplace of Uncle Ho, to spend the night. The following day, tourists will head to museums in Thanh Hoa Province to view archaeological relics from Do Mountain, which is the cradle of ancient Vietnamese and Dong Son bronze drum culture. Long ago wooden stamps were used by Confucian scholars to imprint his name or school name on books and the stamps have round or rectangular shapes. Nowadays, the wooden stamps are engraved with various shapes and patterns, such as street names, 12 zodiac animals, conical hats, calligraphic letters, signatures, Khue Van Pavilion, Vietnamese girls in Ao dai and Dong Ho folk paintings. We visited a small shop at No. 62 Hang Quat Street and talked with Dinh Thien Hung, the shop owner. He said: "This job requires the artisan's carefulness and high concentration. Ao Dai museum - unique space in Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai museum tells the story of the Vietnamese traditional long dress and its changes in the social development process. Buying and hanging folk paintings and calligraphy works have long been an indispensable Vietnamese tradition during Tet and it is believed to bring the buyers good luck and prosperity. Calligraphy works are those featuring stylized words in Vietnamese, Chinese and even English or any other language that one’s heart desires. The words, which hold mostly philosophical and literary meanings, are written with a special brush and ink.
