Viet Kieu ask for clear policies By Hong Phuc - The Saigon Times Daily HANOI - Overseas Vietnamese, speaking at a conference in Hanoi on Monday, urged the Government to adopt more specific investment policies to tap the strong financial potential of Vietnamese businesspeople abroad to contribute to the country. With strong financial capability, Vietnamese enterprises based in Russia have got involved in many big projects at home, such as Techcombank, VIBank, Melinh Plaza, Furama, Kim Tuc, Eurowindow and Masan. Pham Van Thanh, chairman of the Association of Overseas Vietnamese Entrepreneurs in Canada, suggested the Government help Viet Kieu do business here or return home with preferential policies. CPV: In Hanoi on February 20th, the Vietnam Ministry of Trade-based Trade Promotion Agency and the Hanoi Trade Department have coordinated with the Japanese DIY Industry Association and the Japanese Trade Association to organize a workshop titled "Vietnam-Japan trade transaction". Overseas Vietnamese step up homeland investments (23-11-2009) HCM CITY — With the Vietnamese economy showing signs of recovery from the economic crisis, investment by overseas Vietnamese has been rising, according to Vietnamese business associations abroad. Nguyen Huu Liem, chairman of the Vietnamese-American Entrepreneurs' Association, said some of the association members were willing to invest hundreds of millions of dollars in sectors like information technology, bio-technology, environment, tourism and trade. Peter Luu, one of the investors of the Sai Gon Atlantic entertainment complex being developed by US Group Winvest LLC, said the project capital was increased from US$300 million to $4.1 billion earlier this year. A group of leading US businesses will tour Vietnam from October 6-14 to explore doing-business opportunities, the US-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce (UVCC) said in a press release.
