Logo competition kicks off ahead of 45th anniversary of New Zealand-Vietnam ties
The New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam on Thursday launched a competition for creative logo designs that capture the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries in honor of the upcoming 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2020. The winning logo will feature innovative and modern design styles with clear shapes and colors, the embassy said at a ceremony held to launch the competition at the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts. Oncology hospitals and centres are using new techniques and medicine for cancer treatment amid a rise in cancer incidences in the country, Dr Pham Xuan Dung, head of the HCM City Oncology Hospital, said. Dung said that at his hospital the number of cancer patients has been increasing by 10 per cent each year. The hospital is now treating more than 23,000 in-patients and out-patients. Liver cancer has become the most common among cancers, he said, claiming the spot that lung cancer has held for many years. Vietnam applies new techniques in scoliosis surgery
The latest modern techniques in scoliosis orthopaedic surgery have been applied for the first time in Vietnam by the Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital, with support from a world leading expert in spinal pathology. Professor Arun Ranganathan (C) and doctors from the Orthopaedic Trauma Department under the Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital examine a child patient with scoliosis. Accordingly, doctors from the Orthopaedic Trauma Department under the hospital have collaborated with Professor Arun Ranganathan from the Royal London Hospital (the UK) to apply the O-arm three-dimensional surgical imaging system and the Streamline sliding screw system to successfully perform scoliosis surgeries for three patients. The first three patients to have the new techniques applied on for orthopaedic spinal surgery include Ngo Phuong Th. (17 years old, from Vinh Phuc province), Vu Thi Minh H. New regulation for school milk programme
Students drink milk at a kindergarten in Tu Mơ Rông District, the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. — VNA/VNS Photo Dương Ngọc HÀ NỘI — Milk drunk in schools must be sterilised and contains 21 micronutrients, according to the latest decision of the Ministry of Health. It will come into play in January. The sterilised milk must ensure the national technology norms based on the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s regulations, the decision said. The 21 micronutrients must follow regulated amount, including vitamin A, E, C, acid folic and magnesium. The school milk programme was approved by Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc in July 2016. Two months later, the Ministry of Health issued a temporary regulation for the programme, but did not mention clearly the amount of micronutrients.
