(Photo: VNA) Sydney – The Australia-Vietnam Business Council (AVBC) held a conference in Sydney on June 23 to promote trade and investment partnerships through the strengthening of the Australia-Vietnam Enhanced Economic Engagement Strategy that was reached between the two countries in late 2021. Addressing the event, which drew nearly 100 businesses from a variety of sectors, AVBC President Kiem Dinh said that the conference marked a commitment from Vietnam and Australia to promote their partnership in many areas, heading to sustainable and inclusive economic growth in both countries. For the past two years, many agricultural exporters in the Tây Nguyên (Central Highlands) region, which consist of the provinces of Kom Tun, Gai Lai, Đắk Lắk, Đắk Nông and Lâm Đồng, have worked with local authorities to establish codes that meet international standards and advanced packaging facilities. Trần Xuân Khải, director of the Gia Lai Province's Sub-department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, said that these methods had brought multiple benefits for businesses. The week-long event, organised by the Son La Provincial People’s Committee in collaboration with Central Retail Vietnam, is an effort to promote high-quality provincial products to the capital city’s consumers. The event has attracted 15 businesses and cooperatives, introducing both fresh fruits and vegetables such as mango, longan, avocado, guava, banana, Moc Chau pumpkin, cabbage and zucchini to processed foods. These products all meet food safety standards such as VietGAP, GolbalGAP and organic certification. They are mainly in Chợ Gạo, Tân Phước, Gò Công Tây, and Gò Công Đông districts, with the last-mentioned accounting for nearly 7,500ha. Chợ Gạo dragon fruit has been granted a collective brand name by the National Office of Intellectual Property.
