Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi are increasingly congested these days. On Monday evening, VietJet Flight VJ149, scheduled to depart at 7 pm at Noi Bai for HCM City, was delayed until 10:30 pm. A passenger said that he had to cancel a tour along with his friend in HCM City due to the rescheduled flight. Spending five hours at the airports just to wait left him very tired. On Sunday, Vietnam Airlines Flight VN221 from HCM City to Hanoi was around two hours late. VietJet Flight VJ151 was four hours late, while, Bamboo Airlines Flight QH292 was delayed for one hour on June 24. Many other flights from Noi Bai or Tan Son Nhat airports to different localities also suffered delays. Under the Laws on Civil Aviation, in cases where flights are delayed for 4-6 hours, airlines have to provide free food and drinks for passengers. Emirates adds more flights from Viet Nam

Indian tourists keen on Vietnam trip as direct routes increase
The search volume for direct flights to Vietnam from India in early April grew by 400 percent year-on-year and over 3,000 percent in late May, according to data from Google's Destination Insights. The frequency of searches for accommodation from Indian tourists by mid-June tripled compared to early April. Vietnamese carriers are racing to launch more direct flights connecting tourist hotspots with Indian cities, with India being one of Vietnam's growing tourism markets before the pandemic. Vietjet Air earlier this month announced direct flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to India's commercial hub, Mumbai. Vietnam Airlines last week launched direct services between Hanoi, HCMC and New Delhi, becoming the second Vietnamese carrier to fly to India. Once a cost-cutting and outsourcing target for aviation, ground handlers are now being offered raises, as frazzled passengers take to social media to complain about missing baggage. The hiring can't come fast enough as a rebound in travel and badly-needed airline revenue this summer is being weighed by congestion, rising costs and labor strife, after a two-year pandemic vacuum. Air Canada said late on Wednesday it would cut flights in July and August to reduce passenger flows to a level that the air transport system can accommodate. Domestic tourists number beats full-year target in 6 months
June saw the highest monthly figure in recent years of 12.2 million, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism. Tourism revenues were however worth only VND265 trillion ($11.3 billion), or 66 percent of the year's target. Ho Chi Minh City led the country with 11 million arrivals, 86 percent of the pre-pandemic figure. It was followed by Hanoi (8.61 million) and HCMC's neighboring beach province Ba Ria-Vung Tau (6.98 million). The demand for travel has been on the rise in recent months, according to data from Google's Destination Insights.
