Top leader visits House No.67 in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh

Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong offers incense to late President Ho Chi Minh at House No. 67 in Hanoi (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong on February 10 offered incense to late President Ho Chi Minh at House No.67 in Hanoi on the occasion of the 91st founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet). Talking with officials and staff of the President Ho Chi Minh relic site, Trong hailed their efforts to fulfill the entrusted missions to study, preserve and promote values of the exhibits and documents about the late President. He took the occasion to wish them a warm Tet holiday with good health and happiness, hoping they will continue following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle, as well as popularising his life and career to local people and international friends. Laying stress on the success of the 13th National Party Congress, Trong believed that the whole Party, people and army will promote solidarity to build Vietnam into a prosperous and democratic nation with an equitable and civilised society to be on par with powers across the five continents as expected by President Ho Chi Minh. President Ho Chi Minh led the country to success in its struggle for national independence. On September 2, 1945, he read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming to the world the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He was a talented leader and a national hero who devoted his whole life to the cause of national independence and freedom and happiness for the people while tirelessly striving for peace and progress in the world. Located in the President Ho Chi Minh relic site, House No. 67 was named after the year 1967 when it was built, in which the late leader worked and passed away. Lao top legislator pays Tet visit to Vietnam’s officers, soldiers working at Laos’ NA House

Nguyen Chien to welcome the Year of the Buffalo (Photo: VNA) Vientiane (VNA) – Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly (NA) Pany Yathotou paid a visit on February 11 to officers and soldiers of Army Corps 11 of the Vietnam People’s Army who are working on the construction of the Lao NA House, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival. On behalf of the Lao NA Standing Committee and the Steering Committee for the new NA House project, Lao NA Vice Chairman Somphanh Phengkhammy extended New Year wishes to all officers, soldiers and staff of Army Corps 11 involving in the building of the NA House. He appreciated their efforts to overcome difficulties, particularly impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, to fulfill the political task assigned by the two Parties, States and peoples, thus contributing to consolidating the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations. He also congratulated the success of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which, he said, set out new guidelines and plans for Vietnam to continue implementing its goal of becoming an industrialised and modernized country. Artists raise funds to build houses

A campaign by artist Ngo Tran Vu has raised nearly VND200 million (nearly US$9,000) to build houses for poor people through an online painting auction. A painting by artist Le The Anh. — Photos courtesy of the artists Some 70 paintings by 40 artists from the whole country including established Le The Anh, Bui Trong Du and Luong Binh were up for sale. The paintings were made using different materials such as watercolours, oil-on canvas and acrylic with various styles from realism to abstract. Vu established the fund in 2018 and has held charity activities raising funds for poor people. “After the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to donate to build houses for the poor in Quang Nam,” said Vu. A painting by Bui Trong Du. “We have good relations with artists who support us to auction paintings online. Each artist can donate 50 per cent of the painting's value. This event also aims to promote online displays introducing artists and paintings to the public. “The artists have supported the programme since 2019, so we are very confident in how we organise, curate and auction paintings." The participating artists send their paintings to the organisers. Customers will choose the paintings they want and transfer money to the fund. The artists will be responsible for transporting paintings to the customers. A painting by Luong Binh. The paintings are not only artworks but through the event they will be more meaningful, according to artist Anh. The event runs till May 31 at facebook Gieo Nhà Gặt Nhà. Artist Ngo Tran Vu with a poor family in Dai Loc District. In 2018-19, 20 houses were presented to poor people.
