Many streets and pagodas in HCM City have been colourfully decorated to celebrate the anniversary of Buddha's 2,567th birthday. Every year, the ceremony is held on the fourth lunar month. The country’s largest grape producing province has more than 1,000ha under the fruit and an annual output of 26,000-28,000 tonnes, according to its Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. It grows mostly two table varieties, Red Cardinal and NH 01-48, and the wine grape Syrah. To add value, the province has developed models of growing high quality grape to Vietnamese and global good agricultural practices ( VietGAP and GlobalGAP), and organic standards, and used advanced farming techniques in recent years. The Vietnam Space Week will be organized in three Vietnamese localities next week, making Vietnam the first Southeast Asian country to hold such a NASA event. The collaboration for the event involves the People’s Committees of Hau Giang Province, Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Dinh Province, alongside the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association and the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The Hau Giang Convention Center in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang will kick off the first two days of the multi-day event on June 5 and 6. The Student Culture House in Ho Chi Minh City, located at the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City in Thu Duc City, will host the third day’s activities on June 7. A 20-year-old girl was found dead, while her father and younger brother were hospitalized after sleeping in the family car with the air conditioner switched on during a blackout in Hai Phong City, northern Vietnam on Thursday evening. The fatal incident took place in Truong Son Town, An Lao District, a local official told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Friday. When the power supply was restored in the area, a family member came to wake up the trio and found them lying unconscious in an old Toyota Camry, which was manufactured over 30 years ago. They were rushed to Kien An General Hospital where the daughter, Pham Minh H., was confirmed dead, while the father, Pham Van T., 49, and the son, Pham Ngoc K., 15, slipped into a coma. Residents in many Hanoi’s outlying districts are struggling with long power cuts amid the scorching hot weather. Hanoi is experiencing temperatures of up to 37-38 degrees centigrade and the city has had to cut power in many areas. On Thursday, lots of areas in Son Tay Town and the districts of Thach That, Chuong My and Quoc Oai suffered from a power cut from 10 am until midnight. Nguyen Van Hai from Thach That District’s Thach Hoa Commune said that her family had to come to a tourist site in Ba Vi District to escape the heat. Chu Mui’s family in Phung Xa Commune went to a water park in Quoc Oai to avoid the heat, but it was too crowded. So they decided to go to a shopping mall in Hanoi.
