Expert urges for more flexible visa policy for Vietnam tourism takeoff

A friendly visa policy is among major reasons to help boost the Vietnamese tourism development, said Kenneth Atkinson, vice president of Tourism Advisory Board (TAB). He made the suggestion at the Vietnam Travel and Tourism Summit held in Hanoi Monday. The tourist increase helped to add up to USD150 million for the Vietnamese tourism industry’s revenues in the year, according to Atkinson. In promoting Viet Nam’s major tourist drawcards such as its countless scenic locales, culinary experiences and its historical and cultural sites, Visa will work to draw more inbound tourists through incentives for cardholders such as offers on accommodations, privileged access to events, and special dining deals. PM attends opening ceremony of Ca Mau Culture & Tourism Week

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the opening ceremony of Ca Mau Culture and Tourism Week on Tuesday evening. The event includes various activities such as a trade and tourism fair, a food festival, a tourism development seminar and the inauguration ceremony for the Mother Statue, the Lac Long Quan Temple, and the Hanoi flagpole at the Ca Mau Cape National Park. Vietnam carriers could launch direct flights to US as early as this year

Vietnam Airlines, low-cost carrier VietJet and recently established Bamboo Airways are preparing to operate non-stop flights, reducing travel time by almost eight hours. Flights now take 20.5 hours to fly from Ho Chi Minh City to San Francisco via South Korea's Incheon International Airport, while the planned direct service to major cities along the U.S. West Coast would take only around 13 hours. PM urges Ca Mau to unlock potential for tourism development
