More and more people are earning huge incomes from YouTube and Google. Some of them earn hundreds of billions of dong a year from online business. A 28-year old woman and a 30-year old man in Cau Giay district in Hanoi have reported revenue of VND330 billion and VND269 billion from software they developed and posted on Google Play, App Store and other apps. The Hanoi Taxation Agency said they were the biggest taxpayers in 2020 in the city, paying VND23.4 billion and VND18.1 billion, respectively. In 2020, Hanoi collected VND123 billion from e-commerce, up by five times compared with 2019. In Da Nang City, the Hai Chau district taxation agency confirmed it has collected tax arrears of VND25.3 billion from a man, who had revenue of VND281 billion from advert services paid by Google in 2015-June 2018. He specialized in creating online games, available on Google apps and received money from Google. The VND41 billion was his income in 2016-2017, when P was only 20 years old. This means that P earned VND1.7 billion a month. Do Mixi leads top 10 YouTubers in Vietnam According to Social Blade, which ranks 100 top YouTube channels by the number of followers, Do Mixi’s channel has the highest number of subscribers. His channel has 4.45 million subscribers and more than 1.2 billion views. It is estimated that the channel gets revenue of $145,700-2.3 million a year, or VND3.35-53 billion. The second position belongs to Tran Thanh Town, with income of VND1.6-25.3 billion a year, Hau Hoang with VND1.44-23 billion, Anh Tham Tu VND7.7-124 bilion, and Thien An Official 125,900-2 million (VND2.87-4.6 billion). The huge number of views shows the massive level of interest from the domestic and international community for content relating to Vietnamese tourism. The one-minute clip was released as part of a tourism promotion campaign entitled “Vietnam: Di de yeu!”, “Discover Vietnam” in English”, with the purpose of making the country more popular among travelers via the digital-media platform. Created by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) after receiving support from both Google and VinPearl, the campaign is part of a wider programme launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to promote the country as a safe and attractive destination. The campaign features various clips from famous YouTube creators such as Khoai Lang Thang, Chan La Ca, Fly Around Vietnam, and H’Hen Nie, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017, all of whom enjoy a great influence among young demographics and also boast a large number of subscribers. The sound of birds singing in the early morning, chickens crowing at noon, and rustling of leaves in the garden frequently appear in the videos of Dong Van Hung - the founder of Mother-made Cuisine (Am Thuc Me Lam) channel. Hung's videos are only 5 to 10 minutes long, not technically sophisticated or professional, but they can remind anyone born in the countryside. Each video reaches from a few hundred to nearly 3 million views. Just three months after the first video on March 1, 2019, Mother-Made Cuisine received a Silver Play Button from YouTube. Before doing his vlog, Hung was a photographer working in Hanoi. Occasionally, he returns to his hometown (Phu Binh, Thai Nguyen) to visit his mother. Remembering the dishes from home, Hung often told his mother to cook the traditional dishes. Being skilled in photography and filming, Hung often shoots videos of his mother preparing dishes in the way of his home country. Shared on social media, his videos are loved by friends. Hung came up with an idea to create a vlog channel called Mother-made Cuisine to feature his mother. Dong Van Hung and his mother Hung's goal has been to preserve the memories of his family, and not putting heavy emphasis on making money from his vlogs. "I will always make raw, authentic videos like this. I'm still happy regardless of how many views the videos get." Hung said that since returning to his hometown to do his vlog, he still is earning his living by taking photos, not determined to make money from YouTube. "It is just a channel to keep the memories of my mother and me, so I do not intend to make click-bait videos and consider the content to be the number one priority," Hung said.
